I don't comment often on the foums, but I do take the time to read the posts and frankly I am shocked. While there are some good posts, there are way too many complaints. Please realize that STO has just been officially released and everything will be sorted out as the game ages.
Right now Cryptic's main concern is all the bugs that people find. Give them a few months to fix everything. They want to add new content to keep us entertained and they will, just be patient.
I admit that the missions are a bit... repetitive especially when it comes to patrolling the sector. They'll fix it eventually. Just stick it out and have fun.
The in game economy is completely out of control, we all know that, but it will stabilize over the next few months.
The Klingon faction doesn't have much to do. The Federation was the most important faction that is why it is the most developed. The Klingon faction is the 2nd most important that is what it is in the process of being developed. I am sure eventually we will be able to play as Romulans and Cardassians, and they will need time to be developed.
Don't get me wrong, I agree that STO needs a lot of work done to it so it'll be better, but just be happy that we have a ST MMO. In a few months if things are still bad then you can really yell at Cryptic, but for now just relax and enjoy the fact that you can blow stuff up lol.

What makes you believe that fundamental and stable elements of gameplay formula will "be fixed," like repetitive scan/kill/scan/kill? I agree that Klingon PvE will be added. But, it will likely be just as repetitive.
thing with game forums is this - the people having fun playing the game are off playing the game - the people not having fun playing the game are all off in the forums *****ing about it.....

The people with complaints are always more vocal than the people without complaints, that's just the nature of the beast. I have things I don't like about the game as well, but overall I'm enjoying it, and it's interesting watching an MMO grow from the beginning, I didn't get to experience that with WoW or EVE.
I agree with you completely. I think the thing that bugs players most is doubt and faith in Cryptic. Cryptic has yet to display themselves as devs that follow through with their projects to their prime. I myself like the game, not yet love it, but I would feel better if I knew that Cryptic was going to spEnd their resources on making what they already have MUCH better(CO and STO)

I feel the same way, for what it's worth... Having a great time...

The way I see it, we will still have the repetitive missions but more diverse missions will most likely be added to make the game more interesting and hopefully more interactive (like making choices).

lol that is probably true for the most part, but I am sure there are some people who have fun with the game and post in the forums

Based on what I've seen around here, this seems to sum it up very well.
I don't know what to think about Cryptic. This is the first game of theirs that I've played, but to be quite frank, a lot of what I've seen and heard about CO doesn't really inspire a lot of confidence.
But, you never know. Things could go either way. I hope that the gravity of the IP they're working with here will motivate them to keep improving the game and not let it peter out slowly.

CONFIDENCE, that's the other word I was looking for. Cryptic needs to build on players confidence of their ability to deliver.
It's like the fresh new CEO who has some experience but needs to prove themselves worthy. Right now there isn't much to build on and what they have isn't too shiny.

So what are you doing here?
Did he say he was having fun with the game?
