Anyone else seeing a pattern with the quests?

So after reaching the commander level I"m noticing a pattern with all the quests in this game. It goes like this.

-Quest description:
- Random excuse to either:
---- kill 5 squads of something or
---- scan 5 objects or
---- kill 5 squads of something while scanning 5 objects
Either in ground or in space.

Or if it's a main quest line , it'll be like this:

Part 1: Space:
--- see above

Part 2: space or ground
--- if space see above
--- if ground then
kill everything in your path to reach npc X

If more parts exists, it's either one of the above.

So by the time I reached commander 1 I was so bored with the quests b/c it felt like i've been doing the exact same quest over and over and over ever since L1. I didnt even need to reach quest discriptons or pay any attention to whats happening. All I need to know is if i'm on ground or in space and if theres anything to kill just kill and if theres anything scan just scan and move on to next.

Every MMO has grinding, right? But, yes, it is extremely repetitive and predictable. What really annoyed me tonight was a mission where a planet hailed me asking for diplomatic intervention. Turns out, that involved destroying 5 gorn vessels.

I'm starting to get angry reading the hails, etc. Just stick to the the "KILL ALL KLINGONS" and "SCAN ALL ANOMALIES" and the game is much easier to follow.

Yes. All the quest descriptions can be replaced with " kill everything" or "scan everything" or "kill and scan" and we'll be fine. And the worst part is when they call it "Star Trek".

It needs more randomness, but lets face it every MMO has the same repedative missions.

For it to be TOS, they'd have to change it to Drop Kick Everything and Sleep With Everything, respectively :).

Or they will try to sneak in one of these...

Kill/scan one of these things, but we are not sure so kill/scan one more. After that, Kill/scan three more, which equals five. This is like a TNG data episode of threes.

LOL. Very true. Scan 2. Wait scan 2 more... wait scan 1 more. OK, so you got 5, huh?

I was pretty excited about a mission I had today. Turns out a planet was fallen ill to a deadly virus and they needed the Archangels help!

"Oh boy!" I thought, "A use for my science/medical officer besides being eye candy!". Sadly, the entire mission revolved around killing everyone and toggling a few consoles. Made my klingon Tac officer happy though.

Hmm, that mission made my Klingon Science/medical officer happy too, strange coincidence that.

Someone tell me about an MMO where every QUEST isn't kill something. I can't think of one.

What's needed is better exploration/crafting content so that you can do something besides kill.

yea the generic missions are generic in every mmo ever made sofar, less that one not to be mentioned changes all that like the devs have said it would. :P but go kill 15 stalker murlock got kill 10 sleepy merlocks and turn that in go kill 15 and 20 of the other types we forgot to give you in the first quest. or worse yet the bane of any game the random drop quest that you could get unlucky and be doing for the next hour or two.

all the exploration missions are the generic grinds, thankfully most of the actual story content is fairly well done some very well. but do not expect the exploration missions to do anything but repeat from zone to zone with different mobs.
