No point in crafting

I wanted to get in to memory alpha and craft
So I waited until i had leveled to 45 and had some cash and alot of data stored up

I have completed the crafting with all vendors

The reason why there is no point to crafting is because you can get 95% of the items from explore missions
that are the same as crafted without all the hassles of grinding materials

It took me 1.8 million Energy credtis to max it why I had to buy alot of the base items to progress.
If it wasnt for some fleet members helping me with data samples i would still not be finished.

This is a Federation station yet there are no mk 8 & mk 10 phasers and quantums avaliable to be crafted.

Anyone is far better off to just avoid this waste of time and go do the explore missions because its so much easier.

I do hope Cryptic will allow more things to be upgraded in the future because right now as it stands its pretty lame atm.

MOre like gathering. Kinda similar to the collections in DDO. Basicly, fly around and gather anomalies then turn them in with an base item to get something hopefuly worth your time. Usualy not though.

How'd you get past the first vendor? After several crafts I just gave up, I don't even know if crafting was the way to progress to the next vendor.

lol, i didn't even know there was leveling thing to crafting... there reward sucked anyway for too much time.. its more like a time and credit sink if you ask me, as there is more fun in fighting and getting drops.

I agree. The crafting system could use some work.

Memory Alpha definitely needs some work. I think it was intended as a non-combat way to get some of the same equipment that PvP and exploration offers, but the time invested vs the reward definitely isn't equal to the other options.

Frankly, I'd like to see recipes drop as loot on occasion and then you have to bring it to Memory Alpha to create a special prototype item. The schematic could be one time use or some low number, and the crafted item should be Bind on Equip, so that you could choose to sell it or use it yourself.

I have to agree, this is not "player economy based crafting". The rest of the game makes up for it, still it would have been nice.
