As mentioned in ALL of my other posts, I am new to MMOs, so understand that when I get into my question. Should I slow down playing this game? I mean I work 45 hours a week, have a long-term relationship, and a healthy amount of friendships, and run an online Madden league, and I am Commander 3. I have played the game A LOT. As I read a lot of the "criticism" I have come to notice that I am starting to feel the sway of a lot of the opinions out there on this game. I say that because I play the game A LOT, and I have fun, but I find myself doing it more likely because I love the IP. It's one of my favorite pieces of Science Fiction out there..
I am starting to get this sinking feeling that I will - in a couple weeks - be an Admiral flying around with nothing else to accomplish of significance (from my point of view) and that the boredom will sink in. Are there any Admirals out there who can comment? I guess to summarize. I really like the game, I love the IP, I could probably rate the game a C+ or B- (if i want to be honest with myself), and I want to know if there is anything to look forward to? I don't hear much from the developers. No BIG plans, so I feel my interest level could potentially wane, and that's sad, because as a Trekker, I would give these guys PILES of cash to play in a COOL Trek universe.
PS
I know my thoughts are a bit fragmented and apologize if I am just kind of blathering.
They just patched in some new high level content geared towards getting players ready for the top end raid content that is coming.
I believe they will do a lot more, and we shouldnt worry too much about running out of content, unless you play 8 hours + a day. I have been playing 3-4 hours per day and 10 hours a day on my days off since the first day of head start, and i am only jsut now captain 2.
This game has SOOO much potential, and there is so much they can do even with a fairly outdated engine, that I will remain hopeful.
Yeah it isn't hard to play for ~ 4 hours a day (which is around the average for TV watching) even if you have a life and so find yourself running out of levelling content real quick.
I would advise you to just play the game like a single player and finish before the first month is up. That is what I am doing. Currently Captain 2 and I could easily hit max level if I put some time in this weekend.
And yeah Cryptic are deluding themselves if they think this game is AAA (as they constantly say in their PR stuff). No MMO is AAA at launch. Especially one developed in 18 months.
The only thing coming in the near future is "raidsodes" and those are going to be boring if you have played WoW before (combat system currently isn't tight enough for a well tuned encounter). Come back when they do an expansion and add more levelling content.
