Y'know I've spent a fair amount of time on this game and I enjoy it a lot but it is pretty annoying (as a UK player) that most of the (frequent) scheduled downtime occurs right in the middle of peak playing time for most UK players.. after 6pm GMT weekdays and all day Saturday. It would be nice to see you share the love around a bit as I bet we make up a good portion of the player base for this game.. what's wrong with weekday only patching between one am and 3am PST ? Should keep most of the player base happy. Planning a good STO sesh only to find it wiped (again) out due to your rubbish scheduling is enough to make me give up.
They've posted that they want to move to a regularly scheduled Thursday patch. The fact that they're patching tonight means that there's some emergency fix they need to push out.
I know it sucks when it falls in the middle of your playtime, but Cryptic is going to cater to the majority of their playerbase.
And the American Pacific time EVE players and the Aussie EVE players are equally screwed in that game, since EVE does their maintenance on Icelandic time.
If STO was developed by a company in Melbourne the complaints would be in the opposite direction.

Andy I am sorry this upsets you but the world doesnt revolve around the UK. It revolves around the country with the biggest sticks ie The USA :P
But no seriously dude its a USA based game with USA based servers expect things to not inconvience the host countries players
Downtime is usually based on lowest server populations, except for emergency updates. I doubt the schedule has anything to do with 1 GMT users and when they are online.
lol i love it when the yanks flame us for moaning about downtime yet if it was 11am - 1pm during there time these boards would be flooded with QQ from the yankies.
Either way though, no game is worth QQ because its down a few hours.

QFT
just look back at open beta
And thats why they do it now (well it was always going to be in this time slot) but less users less complaints

Las time i actually played EVE till (and not just logged in to change skills) Downtime, it was between 3am and 4 am PST (depending on Saylight savings) did that change? That would put it around noon GMT (+8 hours)

If they move the time, there will be a larger number of people negatively affected. That makes no sense whatsoever. You're being very selfish asking for a much larger number of people to be affected in favor of a minority, solely for reasons of nationality.

I live in the UK and they have already stated they will do downtime when it has the least effect on the player base and that happens to be 11am-1pm uk time.
Stop acting like a sterotypical BRIT and moan all the time you are acting like a victor meldrew.
Im sorry but threads like this make me sad to admit im a BRIT.
It's the time the majority of MMOs bring their servers down for maintenance that need to do so because in general it is the time when the least number of players are on. No matter what time you do it there's always someone that won't like it but since it's a US based company on the west coast it's done at the time it's done.
FFS thats just bad planning... do it through the week for cryin out loud.
thats a /fail Cryptic.
And what if the fix will allow people who have had trouble playing at all, finally be able to play the game? Do you honestly think that they would choose to have maintenance during times that adversely affect their customers if they had any choice?
They set downtimes (scheduled ones anyway) for the time that the least amount of people are playing. Its always going to inconvenience some people, but the least amount of people are being inconvenienced as possible, regardless of where they live.
I honestly wish that people would stop trying to make this an issue over nationality and see the bigger picture. There is the smallest amount of people affected by these maintenance time than there would be during any other time of the day.

Doesn't really have much to do with where Cryptic is based. I can assure you that doing DT at 3am in California is not their optimal time, personally, to do it.
This slot is chosen because it has the lowest PCUs. Even EVE Online, based in Iceland with the server cluster in London, does its *daily* DT from 11-12 GMT.

You're late to the party, whinny forum posts like this have already been made in the past.
They bring them down when it's convenient for them and the majority of the playerbase at once.
Doesn't matter how many UK players it inconveniences if you're still the statistical minority. Servers are taken down when there is the LEAST number of players active during those times worldwide. It may suck for you personally, but it's better for from a business standpoint to inconvenience as few players as possible, even if it is routinely the same ones.
This is just more of their bad "one server" design problem.
Just to keep everybody the same why don't we ask cryptic to shutdow for 24hrs at a time. Woud that make you happy. No thought not. Grow up and stop whining.
wait, so the servers are going down when people should be at work or school in the UK and there are still people crying? hmm, one of two things.... unemployeed mooches, or homeschooled. >>

Or stuck at home because the fracking NHS screwud up and broke your hand during an operation and missed it for 5 months leading to a further 6 operations and even more time at home.

That's not peak time.
I honestly can't believe a UK player is *****ing about the servers going down in the late morning to early afternoon period, get a job mate.

Why would baseball players flood this forum?

OH MY GOD! I suppose if people can't tell the time yet their opinion just has to be the only valid one.
Dont forget about those of us in East Asia!
he wasnt that far off... he would have been right if it was EST he was starting from...
