I'm not going to leave a "wall of text" diatribe on the endemic issues plaguing the game - I'm just done. Cancelled, gone, kaput, finished.
Normally, I wouldn't even post a "I'm done" thread, but this is the second time Cryptic's let me down, so I'm done. Not just with this game, but with anything Cryptic Studios produces - it's Champions Online all over again, only with a venerable and much-loved IP, and it's a disgrace.
This game is the most fun I've had in literally YEARS in any MMORPG(the old Asheron's Call days might just edge it out).
If you don't like it and have no helpful suggestions for improvement, then bugger off. We aren't going to let you try to form our opinions of the game.
Oh, and good riddance. I hate drama queens who try to make a big deal out of things like this, in the hope that they will convince the entire user base to abandon ship and make the powers that be regret ever crossing you.
I don't think it's fair to call the OP a troll. Granted, I am not fan of "Buh-Bye' threads but they were respectful and concise. Not like SO many others who have said they quit in a long outburst and then truly troll the forums..
I agree. The game is lacking a lot of content. Ive had a good time playing it though. I have 4 lvls more then its over for me. At least until they add a lot more content.

its still a public display and as such goes in the rubbish heap like all the other rants.
seriously, if youre not going to be entertaining, debatable, or informative theres no point in posting.
if you want to tell cryptic goodbye then send them an email
I hate these threads - all they serve to do is incite flame-fests (which I guess is the intent though not necessarily in this poster's case).
While I was waiting for STO I picked up Champions Online just to check out another Cryptic game - I played it for a while, decided I didn't like it and I quit - I filled out the text box on the cancellation page with my reasons for quitting and that was it - I moved on.
Some people love CO - that's great for them. I think STO is great - good for me.
If you're disappointed or angry about what Cryptic has done with the Star Trek IP then quit and use the quit page to tell them why - it's far more likely to get back to HQ than a ragequit thread on these forums - we've got plenty of those already...

Too bad you couldn't find what you were looking for here. I hope you come back in 6 months and give the game another try. Many people just aren't prepared to play games at launch - too many bugs, too little content, etc. Give the game a few months to grow then give it another $15.00 try. I've left many games only to return 6 months to a year later and find them much more to my liking. Hopefully you will too. Good luck!

I agree.
But that's no reason to lump one with the others now, is it?
There is a difference between what this OP posted and
OMG THIS GAME SUCKS! I'm sick adn tired of everything and I hope this company goes down the tubes! I give this game 2 weeks MAX.
(and then haunt the forums in case someone responds...)

True, I don't see anything wrong with this post. The OP has expressed his feelings and maybe now feels better. Hopefully he/she will find something they enjoy.
Of course, I don't really see anything useful about the post for the rest of us either. So if there was any intent to do that the OP missed the mark, imo. I often wonder if a lot of people don't really know how to quit a game. At least the ones who leave ranting (not the OP here) that the game needs to change! Sometimes stating that they're listing their rants to help Cryptic improve the game right before finishing by saying something to the effect that Cryptic's hobby is TRIBBLE women and murdering babies. I think Cryptic can tell they will never be coming back and will definitely ignore everything they say. And their posts tend to disappear off the forums fairly quickly as soon as people get tired flaming them.
I've seen a couple of good exit posts though. Where there are no rants and come off sounding like people Cryptic would want as players. These people have usually said in a friendly manner what they would like to see in the game before paying a monthly subscription and conclude they will check back in the future. That seems to get more players discussing their issues and less their motives. An exit like that should provide a carrot to Cryptic to consider their ideas since they already own the game and could be prime targets to lure back if what they want actually shows up in the game.
But maybe most people are just looking for a place to let off steam rather than really wanting change.
..

See this is what really makes sense to me. I've cancelled other things I didn't like. It really never seemed strange or unnatural to me that other people might like them.

Truer, true. I suppose I'd agree in general although we DO already have a few forum celebrities emerging and I suppose I'd actually what made them want to quit if they did and if if I'd extend that right to them, I'd extend that to first time posters.
Really, MMOs just need a separate "goodbye" forum alongside the "tutorial"/"new players" forum. I know it sounds weird and counter-intuitive but I think it would solve a lot and declutter the rest of the forums if all /quit threads got relocated into one place.

that's what I did when I first got WoW at launch, I didn't like the game, so I moved on. no posting look at me, feel sorry for me threads, or ranting in game, I just left.
I hope to see more originality in your insults when I post my quit thread.

I can understand why people get upset - MMOs are unlike any other game out there in the sense that they're in a state of constant development - they do change based on player feedback but these changes typically fall into the following categories:
1) Bugs fixes
2) Balancing
3) Content
1 and 2 are an ongoing process throughout the lifespan of a successful MMO - 3 is costly though, and free content updates are a necessary evil but eventually a studio is going to want a wad of cash for a large content update.
Because players have a continuing financial commitment to an MMO they feel they have a stake ('shares' if you like) in it - this just doesn't happen with more traditional games (although games with multiple sequels do elicit that kind of response in gamers).
The truth is, MMOs rarely change much outside of the 3 development strands listed above - if you start playing one and the issues you have fall outside of bug fixes, balancing and content, chances are you're playing the wrong MMO.

Just wish I could play it.
I mean seriously....if i could just login and play this game would be the coolest game EVER!

Agreed. Just because someone posts they are leaving the game or they dont like it does NOT mean they are a troll. This particular OP didnt even bother to list things he hated about STO, and its obvious he wasnt interested in sparking a debate.
He's not a troll. Many of you here in the community need to learn exactly what a troll is. Throwing that term around and applying it to anyone you dont agree with is sort of naive, not to mention childish.

Well with so many quiting posts its hard for people to come up with new content, kinda like Cryptic.
