Curious, why is your avatar not a redhead?

    and on-topic:

    Password protection is your responsibility.
Which reminds me, don't make the forum password the same as your game account password.

how cryptic handles this issue when it starts to come up will be very important.

my last mmo, aion has been suffering from account theft for the past couple months. you may have gotten a phishing mail claiming to be from ncsoft saying your pw has been changed.

ncsoft is losing customers, both those who have had their accounts stolen and their friends. it takes a week at the least to get a response using all means including phone calls during their terrible business hours just to get the account banned so that the thieves can no longer access it, even longer to regain access with a pw change and again even longer for items to be recovered.

some of the people who have been TRIBBLE claim to be quite proficient at internet security.

ncsoft's problems are tied to poor buggy master account web software, and poor security processes.

you can enter a new pw without entering the old one for instance.

i haven't looked at cryptic's account web software in detail yet, but some of this can easily be avoided with simple security steps that should be standard on any website that uses accounts and pw's.

It'd be hard to crack a password on an MMO without having a keylogger on the system. Sadly those arent that uncommon and at least a few folks have had it happen already. Just keep an eye on your PCs security.
