This forum needs the ability for users to create polls! That way people can post a poll and the dev's can quickly see what people think, instead of reading 8000 replies.
Player posted polls are totally worthless. There is nothing to be gained there that cannot be gained through a well-worded and presented feedback thread.
i'm confused, most of the threads in this forum or the feedback forum are asking for something, whats the difference between that and a "petition" aside from one being called a petition?
A "petition" carries with it the expectation that if it gets enough "signatures", whatever nonsense they want has to be done. In short, it's a demand. You can request changes, but you cannot demand them.

Polls if limited to one response per user are a much better way of seeing the opinions of the user group instantly. Is it a loud minority, or a silent majority, an even split.
I disagree that polls are useless.....I'd prefer to know what the community is thinking on a subject at a quick glance than read a 240 post poll.
The devs have already praised some of the well-organized feedback threads on these forums, that stuff is FAR more valuable than a simple number.
Not true, I'll give you a great example.
Poll: Do you want a Tribble Pet?
Vote: Yes or No
Personally, i'd vote no. And it doesn't really matter why i voted no. But it helps developers pick and choose what they work on based on popular demand.

Agree with this. Not to mention that some of the more touchy topics will usually turn into 4+ pages of the same 3 people arguing. It might make someone not want to give any feedback at all. A poll? That's easy. Just click your opinion and be done with it. You are still able to give further feedback if you want.
Actually this is a pretty important subject. Thats why it got ************************inbetweenthemessage*****************
Your just mad that you didn't come up with this idea first.
Its ok though, you still collected 2 cool points for calling me stupid. I hear you can cash them in for a pet targ at the STO Store online.
At first I lol'ed.....
then I roflmao'ed.
Another interesting tip; looking stupid and being stupid are different things.
Simply because you opt to do something that makes you *look* stupid for a moment doesn't mean you are stupid in general.
Third tip of the day; if something is important it doesn't need loads of "*****" to make it seem more important.
I won't argue with you that its a fairly important subject, what I can argue if you so desire is whether or not you have the need to use asterisks.
I can also argue why they make you look stupid in the first place.
As for Targs.... nah. I want one of those cool attack-saur things :cool:

You guys always beat me to it
fair enough
As for polls, if you're willing to click a thread to vote in it's poll, why not click the reply button and add your feedback in a reasonable manner?

I would like polls, tbh.
Did you vote in this one ? (shameless hijacking)

Just did.
Cryptic told us that they want our imput, so why ban petitions? seems a pretty stupid rule.

Polls have their uses, I just assumed that like signatures with pictures that they will come in time.
If not I can live without them.
Pro of Polls;
Fast and fairly correct data on the actual numbers of people behind an opinion
Neutral Point of Polls;
People can anonymously throw their weight behind something without putting themselves and their reasoning out there.
Con of Polls;
Some people take the results to mean that X Y or Z *must* happen because thus-and-so amount of people want it/don't want it.
