The rare, ever elusive positive thread

I know this is going to upset pleanty of people and im sure will be filled with pleanty of posts yelling about how im wrong (and hopefully some intelligent dissenting opinions as well) but here we go anyway

I have actually enjoyed my gameplay thus far. i am very well aware of the multitude of issues with the game thus far, and there are many aspects that need improvement. Im a very casual player, ive been paying sense launch and am only LTC 5 or 6 now, i get on for a few hours here and there when i can, but i find the game play to be enjoyable, i admit any exploration or diplomicy aspect of the game is far from what i would like, and player interaction and RP is pretty much non-existant, but i have still had FUN playing. I have a blast playing the story line missions, and enjoy getting on quick to shoot phasers at some klingons or deliver medical supplies to some colony. i find that playing at a relaxed pace keeps the game intresting and minimally repeditive (as much as is possible at this point)

I just figured i would try to get some reactions to positive aspects of the game thusfar, instead of the endless threads of "im quitting"

So cryptic, keep working hard to make this the game i hoped it would be and ill keep giving you my money

    Why should it be wrong? It is your opinion and you are entitled to it.

    The definition of trolling is posting material that is intentionally meant to upset others or cause arguments. Key word being "intentionally". So by your own admission that you "know this is going to upset plenty of people", this post is trolling.

    I think most of the active forum posters who are enjoying the game are for the most part engaged in threads that pursue their gameplay interest. Those unhappy with the game or elements thereof will of course post their opinions. But the number of "vitriolic hate" threads is falling noticably... happily.

    :)

    While I do have plenty of negative things to say about the title in whole, I'll put my positive things in this thread :)

    1) Its a Star Trek Game
    2) Leonard Nimoys voice is in it

    Very happily indeed!

    If something makes you unhappy, stop doing it. It seems a better option than trying to bring others down to your own level of abject misery.

    I am enjoying the game. Could it be improved? Sure. What game couldn't?

    I agree with you CptnRaynor. In my opinion, this is a great game and Cryptic did a great job. I`ve been waiting for a game like this for years. I played Birth of the Federation back in the day and loved that game but wanted more. STO was what I wanted.

    I finally feel like I`m a captain of a ship and can interact with the various Star Trek races. I can go run around Deep Space Nine or sit on my bridge.

    I love the optional Ceremony when you level up, a great touch by Cryptic. I felt like I had actually accomplished something when I got to my next rank.

    STO has its problems, but they dont stop me from enjoying this great game.

    Cryptic, keep up the great work!!!

    i think the game is fun. not perfect and tons of little problems but im really enjoying it at the moment

    the story missions are excellent at the moment and im having a blast with them. pvp is enjoyable but needs some work. the attention to detail from the devs regarding the star trek universe is really impressive. i keep finding loads of little details that only someone who's had watched too much star trek would pick up on

    a lot of complaints are due to the fact its not what people expected it to be and are judging it on their own view of star trek and not on the game itself, or they are people not used to mmo's and expected more from this type of game. when i first got into mmo's a few years ago i was disappointed as i expected stories like that of single player rpg and i think a few people are having the same problem as they are not expecting this game to be so combat heavy or repetitive but that is just the way mmo's are.

    there will always be more negative posts than positive ones. when people dont like something they complain, when you do like something there is no need to say anything.

    judging the games popularity by what people read in the forums is pointless as it does not give you any real idea what majority of people really think of it.

    Actually your post is trolling as it has no value whatsoever other than to start an argument. His post simply commented that people are completely ridiculous on chat forums and he is correct.

    I've enjoyed my time playing so far as well. I really do think a lot of these people complaining need to pull their heads out of their behinds.

    Oh oh, time for my "I love STO" copy / paste. Behold, here it comes :

    * Powerful characters editor
    * Beautiful space, beautiful planets
    * Casual friendly and fun
    * Very good space combat, fun as hell
    * The bridge officers make you feel you're the captain, great addition to the game
    * A lot of Trek references, sometimes even obscure ones (favourite B'Lanna's food in the replicator )
    * Very good episodic content
    * I know a lot of people disagree, but I enjoy the ground combat too, I like to see my boffs in action
    * Cryptic really listens, even if they can't do everything we want here and now
    * I like some members of Cryptic very much (Gozer, Kestrel, Wishstone are my favs)

    Voila ! Now I'm entitled to bash the game everywhere else :D

    Yes only a small amount of peopleuse the forums anyway. And the majority of those who do are people who are not happy with the game for some reason or other.
    The people who are happy are busy playingthe game.

    I could not be happier with STOL myself, yes it has some problems but so do all MMOs and honestly this is much better than some other releases i have seen by a long long shot, but over the months it will develop in to a very good game. And will last a long time.

    Wow, my sentiments exactly. In fact, I was playing Birth of the Federation after Christmas 2009 and all of Jan. 2010 while trying and trying, and trying to get into STO beta. It took a pre-order for me to get in, and I've never looked back.

    I'm currently Lt. Cmd. 6 and looking forward to getting to the Mirror Universe quest line and the new Borg content, which the latter will even be more fleshed out by the time I get there.

    OP: I haven't seen many people here telling people that are enjoying the game they are stupid, unless they ask for it with ridiculous statements like how it will kill WoW. Seems to me people quitting or expressing concerns because they are disappointed with the game are the ones being called names and being told to GTFO. Granted, some of these people ask for it, but even highly constructive negative feedback gets trolled almost immediately.

    I love Birth of the Federation. Its a different game than this, but this in my opinion is far more inline with the type of Star Trek game I wanted to play. I`m looking forward to the addons that are on the way. Especially if we get to play as Romulan, I`ve always wanted a D'deridex Class Warbird! Those ships look awesome.

    Negative posts can be divided into several groups.

    A large number of posters who do not play the game, but come from other games or future games (SW:TOR seems to be supplying mant) , open an account, then create a new gripe.

    A large number of noobs that want STO to be what no MMO has in the past 10 year.

    Some legitimate posters with individual gripes.

    No one in their right mind listens to any but the last.

    I agree with the OP. I'mtoo a casual player and definitely enjoying the game. I don't feel that I have to rush and there are plenty of people playing when I get put into a team. Cryptic keep up the good work, and please continue to address the that are present.
