OK, I know that companies are working for profit but please, Cryptic, stop this short-sighted moneymaking which ruins the game so fast.
I'm not a fan of too much group enforcing in MMOGs but what happens here in STO is the extreme opposite, sad and a joke.
You present everything on a silvertablet to the dps fixed excort players, they don't need tanks, they don't need healers, they just burn through the game and complain now about lack of content.
"Escort", does this name not mean that they are supposed to escort(!!!) other ships and not be able to play solo the whole content?
I think only escort players with skill, good gear and patience should be able to solo and even sci vessels and cruisers should it not have to easy while soloing.
I remember at early times of open beta where it was necessary even in my sci vessel to use the full shield energy settings because I had no chance to play always in full weapons energy setting. This is the way it should be, using full weapon energy settings should be the exception only possible in group or solo at the end of a fight.
Same probem with ground combat: For what do I need the pause mode if I can burn burn burn through all?
Cryptic, I soliciting You: Please bring back at least the difficulty of early beta, stop the ridiculous dominance of soloing eccorts, bring in at least a little bit of grouping or STO will end as boring arcade shooter.
please oh please DO NOT bring the concept of Tank, Healer, DPS into this game. That is a wow thing and nothing to do with star trek in any way. Name one time La Forge or Worf or anyone ran into a group of Romulans and said shot me while Crusher healed them and Riker and the rest picked off the romulans one by one. The holy trinity works perfect for low grade WoW this game should be smarter than that and require some thinking on the part of the players.
I do agree that there needs to be a bit more of a group incentive to this game but I think it should be something new where no one in the group is stuck in one position because they chose to play a Science officer. or only one science officer is allowed in group at a time, etc.

Actually it's an MMO thing and has nothing to do with only WoW. If you don't have a group dynamic of any kind, then everything boils down to "Target and shoot".
They already have tank, healer and DPS in theory in the game with cruisers, science and escorts. It's just that the tanks are way behind everyone else instead of in front, because they turn so slowly.
Also, it's a game. Do you agree that gameplay is more important than lore? If not, then maybe a game is not for you.
Gameplay is important. but relying on an old concept of simplified game mechanics just makes all games feel and play the same.
It is WOW that has influenced the trinity concept the most, mainly because of their aggro mechanic, others have followed it. I have played MMOs that didn't have the trinity concept, example Neocron, and was a very enjoyable game.
Yeah they could easily go the trinity route but they don't have too. With a little thought and some innovation they can break the cycle and create something great.
