Detailed Comprehensive Galaxy Map

I have spent the past few days working on a highly detailed comprehensive Galaxy Map for STO. I ran through a few versions until I settled with the current version (kept improving the neatness and readability factors).

I know there are already quite a few versions for maps out there, but there's a few things in mine (or that I plan to add) that others don't have. I also have a sort of built-in search feature on my website for easily finding the locations of systems.

Galaxy Map: http://www.kfguides.com/images/STO/STO%20-%20Galaxy.jpg
My Webpage with more access to the map + system search: http://www.kfguides.com/stobig.html

Note that there are also individual maps for each Sector Block. There is also a Printer-Friendly version of the full map (black and white). Loading the maps for the first time might take awhile depending on your internet speed. As long as you don't delete your browser history and such, it should load instantly after the first time (unless I upload a newer version).

When using the System Search, pick the starting letter of the system and then look for the system from the short list. It'll be in the form of:

System Name - Sector Block Name (with a link to a map of that Sector Block) - Sector Name (color-coded to match the Sector within the Sector Block)

The Galaxy Map includes easy-to-read divisions of Sectors and Sector Blocks, color-coding for different types of systems, and a few more features I'll add soon.

I color-coded as many systems as I could confirm for Docking Systems, Fleet Action Systems, PvP Systems, and Transwarps. Many more systems need to be color-coded, I just want to confirm before I add mistakes.

Also, please note that some typo's may exist. If you find any mistakes, please let me know so I can fix it.

Lastly, if you have any ideas on how to better improve my Galaxy Map, please also let me know.

Hope you enjoy!

Update (2/13/2010):
-Color-coded more systems
-Converted all images to .JPGs
-Added Crystalline Entity to Alpha Centauri Sector Block

I'd recommend a format other then BMP, honestly, but it looks alright besides that (cursed bitmaps!).

Alpha Centauri > Sierra System should be a Yellow Dot, Starbase there with vendors, missions etc.

Crystalline Entity should somehow be represented in the Alpha Centauri Sector Block.

There is also a new Fleet Action in Psi Velorum (Phoxe?).

Tostig in Regulus Sector Block is a Fleet Action.

Thanks. I'll get those updated as soon as possible.

For the Crystalline Entity, I do plan on adding that in, just wasn't sure how without adding some lengthy paragraph about it being a roaming enemy encounter and such. But as soon as I figured it out it'll be added.

I added Crystalline Entity to Alpha Centauri Sector Block, color-coded some more systems, and converted all images to .JPG's for faster loadtimes and such.

Please keep the feedback coming, thanks!

sorry that you went through all the trouble but maybe you should have asked if something like this already existed before doing it.

I knew it existed. I run my own Website for guides and wanted my own map. After I created it, I might as well share it with the STO community.

And as I said, I will try to have a more detailed/comprehensive map than those that are already created.

When the servers come up later this morning, there will be a new nebula sector due south of the Qo'nos sector in Omega Leonis - T'Ong Nebula.

Sorry, friend, this one, in my opinion, is better stylistically and in the way information is organized. It is a stand alone product. It also tells you where Sulu is. THAT is an index of spirituality If I ever knew one.

    Awesome map!

Just one correction though... the Gamma Orionis block isn't in the Delta Quadrant, it's actually in the Beta Quadrant down on the opposite side of Klingon space.

Take a look at this map: http://booredatwork.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/Star_trek_map2.jpg

Look at the "Known Space" inset on the upper right. The entire rest of the map is shown as the 4 chart blocks in the center of it. Down "south" of the Klingon region you can see the Gamma Orionis and Mutara Nebula labels.

I hope you don't think me churlish, but I wonder if you could get together with this guy. Your map has a ton more data than his, but his wins on usability.

Mash up heaven could be achieved if you were so inclined.
