From the patch notes Feb 11th.. Made all repeatable Deep Space Encounter missions have a 30 minute cooldown from start of mission.
I guess I dont understand what missions they mean.
I went into Romulan space and did the enemy contact, killed some Remans (Im commander 8) Did it three times, jumped a few instances because I was alone. 5 min cooldown timer and I started right back up. No change. I thought these defend missions were the ones to have a timer? Or did they mean leaving the map and comming back there is a 30 min timer? Which would be stupid because I can just sit there all day and power level. Once I realized it was unchanged I left anyways to do some episode mission because the defend/rinse/repeat gets boring.
From what I understand and I could be wrong
Let say you pick up the following mission Patrol the Argelius Sector as soon as you pick it up a 30 min countdown starts so if you complete the 4 sub missions before the 30min count down has finished you have to wait if it takes you longer than 30 mins you can pick it up straight away
I means that from the time you talk to the guy who gives you the mission, it's 30minutes until you can talk to him for hte mission again. Part of that 30 minutes will likely be used actualy going out and killing Remans/Romulans, and if it takes you more than 30min to do it you won't see the cooldown.
it's to put a cap on people who would switch instances till they found one with 8/9 romulans dead and a firefirght going on to finish the last squadron. Then when they got that credit they'd jump until they foudn another at 8/9 and then another. So they'd get the credit for the quest without ever firing a shot, then just call up the appropriate officer on hailing frequencies, collect their reward, and do the whole thing again without ever exiting to the sector map.
Then the only conclusion I can make is that it took me more then 30 mins to do 3 rounds of killing 10 enemies. I did get owned a few times but I guess I was not keeping track. Anyone else fight Remans in Romulan space and actually hit the cooldown timer?
The timer is to stop the shameless power leveling via instance hopping in the DS missions. If one is lucky and spends about 12hrs or so doing it they could max level. I'm glad the devs stopped it to be frank. I still dislike the system at hand however. For what it is wroth, the timer was about the only option they could easily implement.

I agree. The only person getting screwed is the one power leveling. I love the episode missions. It's very stupid to make it to captain then go back and do commander missions for underpar exp and items because all you did was power grind/instance hop through levels

These are the power levellers that rush to cap and then come on the forums and say there is no content?
Boo hoo for them.
This is awesome for exploration....... lemme explain.....
Before to outfit my ship id do an exploration mission........ for example hromi cluster once done I couldnt pick it up again until I completed another mission.. then it would come back up on my com....
Now its on a timer I believe.. cause this morning I did an exploration... once I was done to my surprise its back up on the com right away..
Now I can hang around the newest nebula I'm at and get all the level 4 badges at once and outfit my ship
cool not as miffed as I was before. I misunderstood the timer. was thinking for some reason it was 30 min from when you finished the mission. this isn't as bad as I thought at first ^ ^

The 30 minute timer will not affect anyone that was playing legitimately, i.e. not instance hopping into active missions that we close to completion, so they could turn in and receive XP rewards in rapid succession.
