I did 2 missions that took 40 minutes each to complete, in order to earn a total of 140 (estimate) exploration points 3rd order. That sure beats paying inflated prices on the exchange for the launchers. Today I'm taking my newly outfitted ship to conduct a test on them. Hope they were worth the effort.
i'm still Lc with both my characters - but first thing i did with either is explore's and decked them out with full plasma MK IV's.. it's a great way to outfit a new ship, 5 missions = 4 max weapons for your ship. - sold most of my drops for 75% of tool tip price as well and made a nice chunk of change to boot.
Those are the missions in the Delta Volonis Cluster, Arucanus Arms, Hromi Cluster, etc. Those areas on each map that lead to Exploration-only missions. They pay a specific type of Merit which allows you to buy Rare items from those vendors.
Missions titled " Explore the TRIBBLE,TRIBBLE nebula/cluster/expanse) etc
do 3 "unexplored systems" to complete the quest and receive exploration badges which you can then trade in for ship equipment.
Explore missions are ok, as long as they arent bugged or too tedious. I found them a good way to beef up your Bridge officers with some nice shields and weapons
Everytime I go into the explore ones it is suppose to have enemies and I NEVER see them!! Its always bugged for me
That's strange. I've never done a bugged one yet. I had one ship conflict where the foes were way up at the top of the map but I've never had one where there weren't any enemies at all.

I have noticed that you have to be within around 2 LY of any anomolies before you can see them. Just try flying around and a bunch will pop up for you eventually, usually no more than a minute.
