Crashing in ground or starbase combat

Hi

My game crashes 80% of the time when i'm in a starbase/facility fighting and on a planets surface. I then get a box to fill in what I was doing when this happened.

Trouble is, as much as I like the game, last night i got into double figures for 1 evening and as the game has to run through all the files again before loading, this wastes an awful lot of time and is more than frustrating. I have to start the ground assault part of the quest I am doing again. I won't even bother to goto Starbase 24 anymore, as I barely make it through the first set of doors.

Does this happen to anyone else. If not, any ideas why its happening to me.

And if it is happening to others, what is Cryptic doing about it?

Any useful feedback would be cool.

Happens to me all the time!!
Im presuming its because I have an ATI graphics card (5770).
There are loads of posts on this in the graphics forums.
Im trying options in video settings to see if I can get it any better.
Il let you know if I get there!

if your running a ATI HD5xxx turn down dynamic light sources to 2, everything higher and the game crashes onthose cards when in ground combat.

Ever since i have done this -> no more more crashing. Everything else is set to maximum, but i hope they gona fix this isse.

Happens to me a lot too. If I play for an evening (like 4 hours), I'll probably crash twice. Occasionally even in starbase while just talking in chat. It's nearly always while on foot rather than in space. It's very strange.

again, disable or at least turn dynamic lights down to 2 and crashing will stop.
