Turn off zone chat until Cryptic gets a handle on the problem.

All I see is maybe ~1 tell/hour, which gets promptly spam reported.

Right click the poster's name and hit report spam. it'll automatically put them onto your ignore list.

Hopefully no one's actually buying from these people (wishful thinking, I know). Probably the one thing that would get them to leave us alone.

After about 3 days of right click/report spam I now rarely see their messages. Maybe one every two days when one of them gets a new account, then it gets muted.

If you buy "gold" from the spammers ... they only stay around. QUIT BUYING THE ****! Seriously, you failures buying "gold" from these guys ... FAIL. You're spending real money to buy pretend money. No, the initial purchase of the game doesn't count, as that is the software license cost to you. Same with the monthly sub (just more fees - yay).

Zone chats not too bad for me but the mail is getting uncontrollable. I had 15 the other day after being logged out for 2 days. All seem to come from the same source. All reported ofc.

I fail to see why someone would even want to buy energy credits. Dear god the stuff is just laying around. $15 for 100,000. I can get 100,000 in credits in about 20 minutes if I needed it. Just go to Alpha Centari and and plow into some Romulan deepspace encounter combat, they drop loot like crazy, and if you have a decent ship you can hang out at the spawn point during the reset timeout and kill dozens of them. ....

Wow, I just reread that last line.. ... Hard to picture Picard or Kirk sitting around chatting about hanging out in the neutral zone so they can slaughter Romulans wholesale for loot.

i could see kirk and picard doing that - if they were playing STO in their ready rooms

usually there's only two or three @ most in any given instance - report spam soon as you enter and it'll clear em off your chat right quick.

You must have missed the TOS episode called "OMG!!!NEED B4 GREED N00B!", in which Kirk and Spock get into a fistfight after Spock ninja's a drop. Roddenberry truly was ahead of his time.

As for gold spam, report is your friend. And the people actually dense enough to buy from the dodgy sites, well they deserve everything they get since the bulk of such sites contain a variety of keyloggers so any "gold" they buy will be stolen back along with their account.
