Finished every quest in the game, did every thing this game had to offer, and I did it all before:
- ... I had to pay my first months subscription
- ... the first major content patch
- ... they fixed the tos uniforms
- ... allowed respecs
- ... first expansion
I don't even play hardcore either. There have been plenty of days I didn't even log in. Should have kept track of how many quests it was (I'm sure it's listed somewhere), but if I had to guess, I'm saying it's less than 150 quests. And thats including the non story arc missions.
$59.99 for a game which had less content than most single player linear games, and takes less than 2 weeks to complete. Remind me again why there is a monthly subscription? Plenty of free chat systems out there, why pay $14.99 a month to use the STO chat once you've done everything else?
Btw, do I get a prize for completing it all? I'll take a cookie please.

game's still good and I find the quests I run across more in-depth and interesting as the rank progresses.
Don't get me wrong, the main story arcs were awesome. I actually read every single one of them and not just the green text at the end. If the game took 10 times as long to complete, and had 10 times more quests, well, too bad time machines don't exist.
Tell me what single player games you're playing that have more than 2 weeks of play time... Cause I want to play those...
I don't mean 2 weeks /played time, as in minutes adding up to 2 weeks. But, if I had to throw out a game which took more than 2 weeks, single player, I'd have to say Diablo 2. And no, maphacks and trainers don't count!
Funny... I beat Diablo 2 in about 2 days, and not even 2 days complete game time. I would say I beat diablo II in about 12 hours, doing all the quests and such.
You got to level 99 on hell mode in 2 days by yourself?
rofl you should of finished hell dificulty in less then a week ... then its just the same stuff over and over till level 80 ... ( i think level 80 been a long time since i played my melee sorc ) took them over a year to add the expsansion wich if you rember correctly TRIPLED the uniques and added a whole new baal map .
they been saying more content in 45 days ... I personaly liek that idea it lets us casual or lazy players be ready for the ' raids ' at the same time as you power gamers . asumeign i can get to 45 by then i barely mad 30
Getting to 99 isn't beating the game. Beating the game, as in your description, is doing all the quests. I did all the quests, all the acts, on all the difficulties without cheats or hacks in about 12 hours actual played time.
After that it was just a grind fest, and there was no real point to playing.
And Hell mode was easy... getting to 99 was a joke too.
I'm guessing that all of your BO's and your char and your ships are all outfitted with purples right? And that you also maxed one of each of the officer classes. And you have played a Klingon to General, and that you have tested all the ships and tried all the skills?
Well if you want to get technical, leveling to 99 is still something to do in the game. Did you play all classes and specs to 99? Of course not. I played a fed, to max level, admiral gear, all quests completed. Very rare, rare or uncommon hardly makes any difference. Point is, in an mmo, the game shouldn't be over already. Trying out different specs and getting all very rare gear is just beating a dead horse.
I did take my time. I didn't log in every day and play all day long. I did the quests instead of grinding. I took the time and read every dialog. There just wasn't enough content.
I'm not sure there is anything they can do to make the game last longer for people such as yourself.
Relatively? Speaking in relative terms doesn't help us conclude anything. For all we know, your hardcore, is his less than casual. In which case we could say, you didn't play hardcore enough, or you need to L2P
I have to agree with the OP. From what I saw in CB and OB, I pretty much have been not making any effort to play this game solely for the reason of stretching out its lifespan. If I played this as much as WoW or EVE, I'd have cancelled the sub and gotten a refund on my lifetime sub. Lucky for Cryptic, I have a decent amount of other things to do besides play STO. I really wanted to love this game, but as it turns out... it is not the game that I keep thinking about in my spare time, nor am I at work wishing I could go home earlier so I could explore the galaxy. The game is meh, and the content is sorely lacking.
People who defend this game repeatedly want to say that all MMO's also had their problems, even going so far as to say WoW had less than a perfect launch. WoW came at a time when MMO's where still coming into their own, also it was blizzards first MMO. As I recall, WoW launched with something like 3000 quests. And now the OP states there was around 150?
This is Cryptic's third MMO. Maybe its time to start making creative deadlines more of a priority than fiscal ones.
BioWare titles:
Let's take Dragon age for example. I completed the game within two weeks, and I played slightly more than a casual gamer. Even though I finished the game in that time... there were still something like 3 or more different endings I didn't reach, and something like 5 or more Origin story lines I didn't do. The game has mass re playability. Does STO? Meh.
We need more quests in this game. Because once they are all done, there is nothing new to do. Nothing. It's all been done. Sure, you can try out different specs, different gear, but why? When you play that new character, you're doing the same exact quests again. You're not experiencing anything new.
It's like reading a book, or watching a movie. Once you know the plot, the characters, the twists, and the end, why read or watch it again?
Hell, this game is simple enough. So heres a thought... SWG added in a feature for people to make their own stories and quests. Hire some people from the forums, or wherever, and have them write you some story arcs. Slap em together, and throw them ingame. Adding at LEAST 10 quests a week will be enough to keep me paying the monthly fee. Which when you think about it, will not be hard at all.
I don't understand why this is the pace Cryptic said they wanted. It's just too fast. You could just sit in Deep Space Encounters or Exploration missions as a type of grinding if need be. Because missions are linked to your rank / level, when it should be connected to the previous mission, like a storyline.
Given how fast even the normal paceing players are going, Cryptic would have to virtually release tons of material that's on the scale of expansions to keep the ball rolling, else the playerbase will get tired and move on.
Aion at Launch: ~2200 quests
STO at launch: 87 quests (I counted them)
And that includes the patrol, exploration, defend and fleet actions. 87. Those who are saying some of us rushed... doing 87 quests (which will take you to Admiral 5) doesn't take as long as you make it sound.
87 quests... wow. Still can't believe it, but it's true.
Did they have the same in depth backstory to them and storytelling as STO has?
Because as far as i know WoW had and has a lot "please just go kill X of these and i will reward you"
I've been playing casually (3-6 hrs on the days I play) since release and I'm at RA 2 already. This game would qualify as the best single player Star Trek game to date but as an MMO it's utter TRIBBLE.
You think YOU have done everything? I have three chars at Admiral 5 and have been farming cash for the hell of it for the last day and a half...
You are doing something horribly wrong, i got my last char Lt 3 to Lt Commander in under 90 minutes.
And STO doesn't have a lot of:
Not to mention the fleet actions... blow X up! Or... Destroy X number of ships!
Doesn't matter what the quests are, they are still quests. 87 isn't enough.
So the game is a little over a week old (since official launch) and people are complaining about not enough content. I wonder how many quests WoW had when it was launched?
By the way, hasn't it been posted many, many times already that more content is coming?
