The new daily badge "purples"! (The true reward)

Very yummy items to make any admiral drool!

Ever wondered how long it would take to gear yourself and your team?

Assuming you want to equip:
-yourself and your away team
-your ship (including engines)
-also assuming you take only one kit

Almost 59 days (almost 295 badges)

If combined with the Exploratory mission (which you should do anyways), by the end of that period you would end up with the following:

-4.4K badges of the 5th order
-12K merits
-18K BO skill points

and that's just from that one mission hand-ins alone. You'll likely encounter at least one combat mission per round, which award 300 points/200 merits a pop as well ( in addition to kills), basically doubling (or more realistically tripling the merit and skill points)

And no I'm not making any point here, just thought I'd share the numbers with others that like to plan ahead.

(PS: forgot if I counted the main character weapon twice, if not that would round things nicely to 60 days)

Happy collecting!

7 badges to buy a purple- thats's almost one every day after day one. You'll have an epic ship in no time at all. This game is stupid easy- and I'm getting bored fast without some endgame content. Hope Cryptic has something up its sleeve to get my 15 bucks every month or I'm outta here.

I have to agree here. Though I hate waiting, this is actually a pretty good idea as to making us play everyday to try and achieve one of the best weapons in game.

Yah but here's the thing- what do you use em for?

PVP is mindless and uninteresting. You are level capped, and frankly, you pretty much can kill anything that they throw at you anyway now. So what do you use it on?

That's why I'm hoping for some endgame content and soon.

to gear yourself for end game content? DUH!

If you are getting so bored with STO go back and play (insert MMO name here) instead of whining about it on these forums.

What end game content....duh? Seriously, there's no group missions, no raiding, no way to form raid groups, and half the TRIBBLE is broken for end game. You try to get into pvp, and you wait 30+ mins usually. (And god forbid you try ground missions where you can never see a person of the opposite faction.)

A bunch of the stuff they JUST PUT IN THIS PATCH doesn't even work. Maybe cuz of lack of testing? Just a guess.

    {...}

    Straight from the frontpage:

-A Daily Star Cluster mission which grants Marks of Exploration for use at an exclusive store in the Staging Fleet to gear up for upcoming Raidisode content.

(Something tells me those high capacity personal shields with anti-proton resistances are going to come in mighty handy when the Borg Queen & Co arrive)

Sorry, but I've got no sympathy for people complaining about lack of end-game content one week into the game's release. Maybe if you actually played the game rather than rushing through it so you could be one of the first ones done, you'd enjoy it a lot more and longer.

Honestly, you expect to blast through everything, playing 15-20 hours a day every single day since release, and did you think you WOULDN'T burn out? I don't know about you, but I would get bored of ANYTHING that I devoted that much time and energy towards for too long at a time.

I dont mind the badges and all to get the gear, but am i the only one who thinks repeating that exploration quest stinks for the only way to get badges?

You can also get several badges from doing raidisodes, which will be repeatable. The raidisodes are coming soon.

I would like to point out that as time is getting farther and farther away from head start that '15-20' hour number is getting *very* wrong.

By cryptic's own admission, there is only 6 hours a day worth of material since head start. Not that 6 hours is that much healthier, but it *is* lower than 15-20.

Comparing these items to the mk X you get from farming 5th badges of exploration, or doing the final tier of Memory Alpha, and they're mostly a side step if even that. For a just made admiral, I think they might save some time, and I appreciate that. But for someone who has already been an admiral for x days, or weeks, it's just more of the same stuff. If you're a min/maxer, maybe this gets you excited. But 40 shield points added to a personal shield mk X green/blue, or 0 in the case of a blue mk X from the Memory Alpha quests? You'd think the items would have anti-Borg utility. A higher resistance to that neural-toxin effect the Borg medical drones inject you with at point blank perhaps.

Well, at least now you can farm enough 5th badges of exploration between the two nebulae available, to gear your ship in a day instead of three.

Coming soon is a very wide comment when it comes to cryptic >.< 1week-2 months from my previous cryptic experience..

To be perfectly honestly.. If theres no raids ( and these raids better be near unbeatable ) by March chances are Ill move on to the next game... Lotro had no raids and launch, and that Is just about the main reason that it dosnt have a huge following.

That is some good stuff, I can't wait to have me and all my boffs maxed out by the time the level cap is raised.

I find the Weapon selection a bit limited, I only saw Antiproton Weapons on the Vendors at the 3 Locations. No Phaser, Disruptor, Plasma or Polaron.

Those Engines aren't better compared to my blue MK VIII Engine, well ok they got 5 more on Full Impulse.

After looking at these new very rare RA X engines, I still plan to run the rare Lt. Commander "Efficient Impulse Engines MK IV" +5 to weapon, shield, and aux.

Looking at the Epics I was in many ways underwhelmed.

For the most part I have greens and blues that are lower leve that are basically equal.

I understand the initial waves of epics cant be Godmode weapons but they should at the least offer a decent uptick over standard loot.

My Blue Mk IX Covariant Shield has 7,650 Shield Points and 128 Shield regen.

For 52 Mark of exploration or 11 days of daily. I can get an Epic Shield that has 7,838 Shield Points and 144 Shield regen.

It seems to me that is lopsided when I got my blue from just doing the quests of the game yet endgame item which requires more days then it took to reach Admiral to buy is only a mediocre upgrade.

Then onto the weapons. They are all Anti-Proton which no one will pretty much have points for so they are weaker than phasers, disruptors etc all because people invested into those skills leveling.

I'm rather disappointed there is zero variety on the weapon types being all one type of damage.

I don't like the new rewards. I wont buy Antiproton or Tricobalt Weapons because based on my skills I will do considerably less damage with them compared to my phaser/Tetryon banks plus quantum torps.

For cryptic it was one of the biggest mistakes to limit skill points. I already need 4500 for my ship alone and want to max out engineering crews as well. I have maxed 2 energy weapon and 1 torp weapon type and don't see a reason to max out another weapon.

There is only on way I would even consider antiproton weapons and that would be, if we'll get more skillpoints (or the talentsystem will be completely reworked).

Haven't seen so much of the borg content yet (only done the daily) so I can't judge the missions.

I am with the others here who are not impressed.

Firstly, obtaining these purples seems to be limited on the Klingon side. Unless I am mistaken, Feds are capable of obtaining badges for this stuff through both PvE and PvP daily missions. But Klingons can only get the badges through a single daily PvP quest to do a warzone 3 times (rewards 5 badges). We have the T'Kanis nebula now, but it just awards more T5 exploration badges, which are honestly much easier to obtain from the easier ChoS nebula.

Secondly, these purples are all junk. I am nearly loaded up on Green and Blue MK X items now, and the purples aren't much of an upgrade, if at all. The space weapons are the largest problem. It is exclusively Anti-Proton and Tricobolt weapons. I have NO skill points invested in either of these weapons. That means that although they are purple quality, they will actually be weaker than the Phasers/Quantums I use currently.

I am Brigadier General 5, and unless I get a respec soon, these new weapons are entirely not worth getting.

I also do not apreciate the prices. Weapons once again are super cheap (7 each), but shields, deflectors and engines are once again stupidly expensive (52 each). Can't these prices be evened out somewhat?

Well, this is what the patch notes say:

Level 43+ players of both factions also gain access to Daily PVP missions which grant Marks of Honor which can be redeemed for exclusive top end gear at stores on K7/Ganalda respectively.

That gives me the impression that you guys have the exact same daily PvP mission we do for 5 badges, IN ADDITION to the PvE mission you mentioned. On the Klingon side, we ONLY have the PvP one. Our 'new' PvE mission rewards old T5 exploration badges.

52 Badges for 1 drive, shield or deflector is insane. That's 11 days to get one item, over a month for all 3. You're looking at 2 months to fully kit out your ship in Mark of Exploration gear.

I did notice though that none of the shield arrays carry Bleedthrough, so I can get a 10,189 shield / 187 regen for my Science T5 with 0% bleedthrough... is this a bug? I sounds like one.

I saw that too and lawled hard. Sure its good but "very rare" is really hella rare and the stat bonus just isn't justified on the rarity in my opinion
