First of all, I'm going to say that I tried. I gave Star Trek Online a shot. Sure, everything they said about the game was enticing. Sure, it was a stretch. Sure, there are a lot of people who were red flags I shouldn't have ignored. But right now I can see that I just bent over so Cryptic could *** me. I mean sure, I should have just moved on when they never made it clear what the game box comes with, and when the retailers had to put "?" after an item name because even they didn't know what was going on. And when I entered my product key, only to be prompted to subscribe and pay another $15 immediately, I should have just thrown my copy in the trash with the rest of my garbage. And if that wasn't a hint enough, I waited until the patcher disconnected and started over at least thirty times. But I didn't. I waited until I tried to play the game for an hour and half, only to be disconnected countless times every few minutes.

I have never seen a company that has absolutely no idea what they're doing, and *** so many people over at once. I mean seriously, if you can't get ANY of your TRIBBLE together, then you need to crawl back into the lonely hole you stayed before some idiot gave you a computer. It seems like every year game developers get lazier, lose more intelligence and gain more weight.

Every single person who has ragequit Star Trek Online or Champions Online are both justified and intelligent. I'm only sorry I wasted my money on such a useless, worthless thing. And for the record, call me a whiner all you want... just let me know when you're able to play the game for more than 15 minutes. And call me a quiter all you want... just keep in mind that I can't quit something I'm unable to play. And call me a hater all you want... just remember that there would be no reason to hate if someone grew some balls, put away their skirt, manned up and actually accomplished something in their life.

And until Cryptic actually gets something done, instead of sitting around enjoying all the money they're making off of a great franchise, I'm leaving my copy in the garbage where it belongs.

    Can I have your stuff?

So what day did you try and play? I have had hardly any connectivity issues since launch. Sure a few disconnects here and there, but nothing that hasn't hampered gameplay too much.

Yea sounds like it. Ive been playing happily for hours at a time when I log in. I very rarely get disconnected. Happens about once a week. Server crashes are becoming extremely uncommon as well.

So if you cant even patch very well or play for longer than 5 minutes, then its your computer or your connection. If STO is giving you this much trouble I have doubts that any other online game is going to work for you either.

I'm in South Africa and have had less than a dozen disconnects in two weeks with 300+ ms of latency, even playing during US primetime on weekends. The problem isn't Cryptic, it's your internet connection, pony up for FIOS or complain to your ISP, that's where the blame is.

You mean like every MMO ever released? Seriously, ever single MMO that relies on subscription asks you to set up a monthly subscription or enter a game card upon creation of an account. But hey, dont let facts get in the way of your rant.

As for the rest of the wall of text, i'd check closer to home rather than blame Cryptic. I havent been disconnected once, no matter how long i play. You're best off checking your internet settings and make sure theres no issue with you ISP.

Just to make a contrasting point here, seeing as how the OP has clearly taken the time to make his, I'd like to say that I have been playing since Beta. I have had exactly the same connection issues as the OP at times, although the patcher always seemed to work well for me. I've read a lot of people who ragequit because they aren't getting the depth they would like from the game. I've been playing MMOs for years. I still play SWG (anyone from EuroChim should recognise the name ;) )

What can I say, I love the game. It's beautiful. It has a huge lack of social interactions, I despair of the emotes (because I'm used to a much more fluid and dynamic system from SWG). I recognise that it has flaws, the missions are carefully tailored to give you a more random feel, but again they do repeat a lot - nevertheless it's fun. Will it keep me entertained like SWG has for 5 years? Well probably not at the moment, but did I start playing SWG with the long term view to play for 5 years? No of course I didn't. It's a computer game that captures my interest, it has style, scope for huge improvement and frankly it's new. I see the same faults a lot of people here see, but I don't get hang-ups over it. I allow for the fact that it's a new game with small improvements being made all the time.

The only thing I think needs a serious amount of work is the customer service system. I've had tickets open for 2 weeks now and still no responses. Game satisfaction 9/10. Customer service satisfaction 3/10. Vast improvement needs to be made here, even if it's a simple fielding and contacting people to explain why a ticket might sit for 2 weeks. Communication seems a little scratchy at best. :p

You don't get billed for the 1st month, I have only been disconnected once since launch (unless the server actually went down) and never had any "?" from any store, except when they asked me if I wanted to use my gamestop credit to pay for my pre-order.

sounds like you need to go back to your hole and lrn2computer

You DO realize that you won't get charged until AFTER the 30 days? The only reason they are asking for the billing info is that so they can continue the subscription after the free month. You obviously didn't read what it was telling you.

As far as connections? I have clocked in 30+ hours since launch with only personally experiencing three server crashes. The patcher has never failed me nor restarted incorrectly. I have had only one hour or so of laggy play but everything else has been super smooth.

You need to figure out what your particular connection problem is before you judge the game. It's not cryptic's fault you can't connect. I have been playing the game since last october with very little problems.

I have never suffered a disconnect like you describe. Other than the servers going down two or three times for emergency maintenance, I have never been disconnected.
