Beam Weapon Question(Help)

Hello,

When right clicking on a beam weapon and clicking on "Info" there's an area where it say "Toggle (4 Max)". I was wondering what does that exactly mean. Does it mean I can only fire 4 beam at a time? Any information would be helpful, thanks!

I know that you can have as many beams as you want running, but according to Cryptic sources, anything over 6 is a waste. Also, damage applied diminishes with each additional over 2 (or is it 3...) and after 4 beams the additional amount of damage is very small.

My guess, and this is only a guess, is that this is somehow in reference to how many times an effect that the weapon delivers can stack at once.

I could be very wrong, however.

Toggle max is the fire time of a skill. What happens when you fire a beam weapon is it fires for 4 seconds or 4 max after that it turns the toggle off and has to recharge for 1 second. You will notice this on all attacks that have a duration like attack. Tachyon beam fires for 3.6 second or toggle 3.6 max, extend shields unless they changed it recently was toggle 30 max or 30 seconds.
