I have Realtek on-board audio chipset and I did update the drivers as metioned in troubleshoot section on these pages. I am getting no audio at all in game. Any help would be appreciated.

Audio is disabled on some drivers under XP64 due to a kernel memory corruption bug in the driver. If you want to run it anyway, I think command line argument is -ignorex64check or something like that.

I have Vista 62 though. I'll try it anyway, thank you.

Edit: That fixed the issue. Seems to be working perfectly, thank you very much :)

A point worth noting (since it's not necessarily obvious) - if you start having network issues after you've disabled the check, that'll be the aforementioned driver bug.

From what I recall from when CO launched - the bug in the sound driver results in occasional corruption of the network stack (I guess both on-board sound & network are on the same Realtek chip?).

Oh not sure was my network adapter same chipset. But I'll keep tracking on the issue. Is there a "bugless" version of Realtek drivers that you know of?

Ah, just saw you say you use Vista. I'm pretty sure the bug & skip check option were for a bug only on XP 64bit.

Might seem like an obvious one but - you're hearing sound outside STO right? Vista has mutiple volume controls for each app - is STO's turned up? Run STO then click the speaker in your task bar and check the volume slider for STO. Also, I'm assuming things aren't muted inside STO's own audio options?

Yeah audio works fine outside the game and after I added the check line "-ignorex64check" for game's shortcut the audio started working also in game.

I seem to have the same problem.

Downloaded the latest driver from Realtek, installed it, tried the command line suggestion:

    "C:\StarTrekOnline\Cryptic Studios\Star Trek Online.exe" -ignorex64check

    Still nothing.

The command-line argument is for the game client, not the launcher. You have to put in the launcher options dialog, there is a field for command line args.
