The Silence

I just realized what bugs me about ground combat and its the complete silence of the persons involved. I mean if you fight a horde of Klingons in a battle to death, wouldn't you expect at least the Klingons to be shouting battlecries, injured people to scream in pain etc.?

Or at least for someone to make a snarky comment while vaporizing the enemy? :)

The only thing you hear during a ground battle is weapons fire, those people must have awesome discipline. I wouldn't have expected that from the Klingons and Orion pirates at least! (Though I could picture the Romulans as silent evil buggers)

Hehe, I just would like the fights to be a bit more 'animated', maybe that would make ground combat more fun.

I think a lot of minor sound cues would do a lot to help with the immersion in this game. There are common phrases used over and over again that would be relatively simple to implement (as to how much they would have to pay for the voiceover work is another issue...)

Things like, "incoming message" or "on screen" or "beam me up" would be great. I know there used to be an option for player/BO voices that was taken out before release with a hint that it might return later. I wonder if those are intended to be something similar to that.

Well, Clarice - have the tribbles stopped screaming?

I was just posting on Footstep sounds when I saw this thread and it reminded me. WHERE ARE THE DEATH SCREAMS?!?!?! I want to hear them Klingons choke on their own blood and scream as they are vaporized. :) Seriously though things like Deathcries make all the difference. Kind of like cool explosions ya know? Sound engineer sleeping at the switch or this another example of time and money? Anything in the pipes?

I think that once they implement voices they'll do stuff like this, your BO's alreay say in chat things like "CLEAR! GRENADE!" And "Laying chroniton minefield, now!"

I'd like to see a fight where my guys don't ... move around so aimlessly. There's a german word for that which describes this behaviour perfectly: "Hampeln"

My crew hampels around to much :(

I really want bridge sounds. I want to hear my bridge officers carrying out my orders and saying things like: "rerouting power to the aft shields!", or "structural integrity down to 30%!" stuff like that.

It looks like that was going to be added, but backed off at last minute. It would be a lot of voice over work.

At very least 5 maie and 5 female voices for every skill (one for each BOff), then some variety in combat situation small talk.

    That could get rather expensive.

They could use fewer voices and just pitch them differently to achive more variety.
