Read before doing a Goodbye Post

I saw a few of these "Goodbye Posts". Hey guys tbh if your leaving just leave its not like anyone really knows you. Hell the game hasn't been out long enough to build the relationships yet LOL. I know why some of you do it and its because you sit at home alone and just want someone to pay attention to you. 3 words for ya "Buy A Dog"

Anyways if you are leaving and have read this and understand that your not gonna post a goodbye post and have stuff you need to get rid of go ahead and note it here we can meet up for one last time in game to make the trade and I will personally tell you "I am so sorry to see you go best friend. I really wished we could have played together more and gotten closer like brothers or brother and sister. I love you and good bye and thank you for your stuff.":D

Now that we have that understanding thanks for everything that you leave me..............

I like to read the good bye posts. Some of them have interesting critics about the game. To know why those people leave may help to prevent others from leaving. One less sub = less money for the game = less addons. It should be avoided if possible.

Agreed. My girlfriend was watching me play as she has on several other MMO's and she said that STO just looks dumb and asks why I log in.. I told her hope

What do girlfriends know about games? Mine would only have fun on a game if it's on the wii and she can jump for hours at the exact same spot; watching the character on the screen jump too... very entertaining; actually it is; watching her doing that that is ;)

You know if people put as much drama into role playing in the game as they put into their goodbye posts on the forum, then we would have one hell of a rp community.

I like reading the bye post some times I try to help them, and then there are the one who are so lame that I can't help but to point and laugh.

Following your logic; she knows it's stupid and boring; and as you say it yourself; we can assume you believe she is right; yet you play for "hope" that something changes; ... err... sorry but that sounds like stupid reasoning as well ;)

Games; ... made for fun. If you're not having fun because it's boring and stupid; why play? :D

At least there is other games to play until this game might become fun... and full of content. I jumped on some legacy the other day and its space combat was more fun then this. I think if they just put Legacy and EliteForces 2 together it might have made alittle bit more fun of a game.

    Battlefield Badcompany 2
    Aliens Vs. Predator
    Bioshock 2

I can agree to that, to a point. It all depends on the maturity level of the person making the good-bye post. Sometimes the game just isn't for them. I can accept that, as no game is 'everything' to every single person. Everyone has different likes and dislikes. And if they don't like it, at least they tried it.

For others, they could be having issues that may be correctable. Say someone having issues with bonus items that hasn't quite figured out how to get them yet. Or crashing issues that may be solvable with a few tweaks on their end. Things that people might be able to help them with. If they're willing to listen.

Then there is the "Look at Meeeee" posts. While I have seen some of the above, the majority tend to fall into the Look at Meeeee posting category. They are posting for nothing more then to stir up the pot and garner one last attention drawing action to themselves before leaving. In which case I would have to disagree with the quoted portion above. Players who suffer from this, entitlement, permanent victim hood, are generally not beneficial to the environment in the long run. Catering to customer A, just to lose customer B and C because of A, isn't a great business model. Let customer A go.

Goodbye posts that say why with a little more depth than "because it sucks" are good. At least SOMEONE will read it here, unlike your account cancel feedback where you have no idea if anyone at Cryptic will read it or even care. I suspect most of the people here actually wanted to like the game and just want to vent for 5 minutes over their disappointment with a game they've been waiting for since online gaming began.

Unless you're being tricked into reading them...why do you care? It's not hard to avoid the "I quit" threads unless you're mentally challenged.

    ^^ This.

It's not the goodbye post per se but the typical tone it exudes.

This post is very ignorant. The people in my fleet have been friends since closed beta, and relationships have developed over time, we were quite depressed to hear that two of our officers could no longer afford the game so they had to quit.

    Hope is good.

No one asked for her opinion though.

    No disrespect meant.

She does not like it and consequently does not play or, evidently, find it necessary to even log in. That's more than we can say about thsoe that think it necessary to share and force their moment of epiphany on the rest of us.

Maybe true...But it's not very usefull to have them all over the place. If they have to stay then in a seperate place.

The above word is what I believe many, if not almost every MMO developer counts on from the player base. They then take it and beat us into bloody submission with it. :D Your post actually made me smile, ty.

Are you beaming you and scottie down for a fling in good ole deer park? hmmmm tough to tell what your deal is with deer park but thats cool the fact is you probably never even been anywhere near here and if you ever are let me know we can have a beer and talk about the town.......

Wow this was seriously a joke post to lighten up the board LOL Dude you might want to think about another game or take a valium to settle down. It seems that because a couple of your officers left its as if they died. Well I hope your entire fleet warps into deep space then they run out of gas and get a flat tire ;)

Funny... my girlfriend saw me playing with my BO's character creator, and she asked me if it was CO (played that before and she loved the costume designers) and I said "Nope, Star Trek."

She was like "eh... Star Trek?" (She's Japanese, and has never seen Star Trek) then she said "It looks like CO..."

and I looked at her and was like "Yeah, same people made this game."

Then she goes "Oh..." (She was still starring at the screen...)

5 mins later I turn around and shes looking at me... I know what she wants. lol She wanted to play with the character creator.

She doesn't play MMO's, told me WoW looked boring, and the only game she has ever even sat down and "played" with was CO.

So I let her play with my Admirals BO's... and she was like "You can customize all of these characters?!" After telling her yeah, she spent the next 3 hours playing with it.

Her final deduction: "CO had more pieces available, but it was fun." -.-

Thank god the ship customization is limited, and there is no interior decoration. (Yet.)

Well while waiting for improvements you also can spend the time to instal the counter cost of lack of improvements and equal applied rules for retribution if such things are intent not mistake.

Maybe your girlfriend was trying to give you a crystal clear hint that you should be playing with her instead.

When my wife gives me these hints, I drop the game.
