Maybe it's because I'm on computers all day already but.. my thumbs have been fine. And I use both. One for my spacebar and the other for my mouse4/5 buttons. (fire torpedoes and balance shields).
Did the PVP today for the first time as part of the MacKenzie Calhoun storyline. I have to say that I totally agree with the above remark. I hung around for two rounds and the Feds got pasted both times. One thing I did notice was that the Klingons seemed to be more organized and were attacking targets together. This may be a sign that the Klingons are the more experienced players in the game and the Feds are (often) full of noobs.
I was surprised, in my noobiranda, to find some of the other Fed ships were -3 or more to me.
TC: Over the course of the development, did the space combat tend to pull one way or the other towards being more actiony, or more staid and strategic?
CZ: We probably wanted it staid and strategic. A little bit more positional. A little bit more like the shows. But when you say that out loud, people are like, "Well, that just sounds boring". So you want to make sure it's very engaging, so that while it's strategic and positional, you are constantly making decisions.
That's why they wont' add auto fire. It makes combat less "ENGAGING".

Can a DEV/CM please chime in?
Anyway, get a macro, they're not hard to find. I use one that causes my caps lock key to toggle a spacebar hit every .5 second command.
