On the surface with the few details provided, it sounds like a driver issue on your machines. Although, more details/and or reports of this issue may prove otherwise.

BSOD's are caused by a hardware or driver issue.

Can you throw up a dxdiag log? Might be some obscure driver that needs updating due to the new patch.

I have tried to update my drivers and it didn't help at all. Now I am also getting BSoD, even after rolling back the drivers. It would seem Cryptic has decided to solve the server problem by kicking some of us off all together.

Try checking off safe mode in the STO launcher options and see if that will let you in.

Loading in safe mode worked. So now I wonder if I'll have to play in safe mode all the time?

Any how, thanks for the tip =))

I would suggest turning your settings back up to normal bit by bit until you find out which setting caused the problem. Or turn them all back to normal and see if it was just a 1 time login issue. Glad it worked. Let us know how you make out.

When was the last time you reinstall your OS? Windows does get corrupted over time. You install something at changes a DLL, a virus or malware got on your machine. These things happen. Just two weeks ago I uninstall a program that removed a whole folder it Windows Media Center used. I had to reinstall Windows to get it back.

If you had the same install since day one you should backup your data and format your hard drive and install the OS. This usually clears up any problems.

We as hardcore PC gamers do this every time there is problem we can't fix with driver update, patches or spyware scans. But we have a image of your PC to restore so we are up and running in 15 minutes.

I don't know about Yezar but I've reformated about a week a good. Weirdly enough, about an hour ago, the game booted me out of safe mode. I logged back in with out it and now the game is working fine. To be honest, I've played quite a few mmo, (wow, aion, atlantica) and the laucher and game in sto is just so buggy. :(

I have the same issue, my problem is that I'm using a laptop w/nvidia 8200M video card. There is no new driver for this card.

I just downloaded and ran Malwarebytes. it's a free program that does not inter-fear (my spelling is horrible) with other anti virus. It located about 140 questionable objects and removed them all. I would recommend everyone else doing this as well.

Latest drivers for this card are the 197.16 Laptop drivers. They work fine with the game, until the last patch (and from what I'm reading this is unanimous among all players and system configurations) where the driver crashes and has to automatically restart itself. I get this message from my HP Health status, in Vista SP2, 32 bit, Home Premium Ed. Other than that, all seems to work fine. The only time this occurs is after exiting the game and it wants to check for a patch update after exiting the game.

See if those drivers work for you, as the factory one's that I had kept giving me a warning from the launcher that my drivers were outdated (even though they would work).

Although a lot of people tend to like using Malware Bytes, I personally prefer CCleaner. Do a google search for it. Not only does it check and clean just the temp files, it can check your registry for any problems, and correct them quickly (either by reconnecting the functions to the dlls, or removing them altogether). I have noticed a tremendous difference in Vista since running this, and it has helped a lot after adding and removing programs over the last year. Haven't had to reinstall the OS yet.

Also, Defraggler (made by the same company) does a far better job than the standard Windows defragmentor does, and is free just like CCleaner. Free utilities are good...expecially since I use them as an IT consultant.

One last one to consider is SuperAntiSpyWare (free as well). Does a much better job than Malware Bytes in checking for Spy and Malware. Again, free is good. :)

I wouldn't recommend it if it didn't work for me in the field. Best of luck to you all.

I had the PC crash and reset twice yestarday both times on ground missions, that's a first for me as the game had been running perfectly, i switched off dynamic lighting and its been running fine since, although since the last patch ground stuff has been hit by a big drop in FPS at times....i also swtiched of GPU muticore usage which was on....

Space stuff has been trouble free.

bsod are caused by MANY more things than just hardware or drivers.

most are caused by software, statistically most are caused by poorly, faulty, interupted, fragmented, or malicous memory access code(or SOFTWARE) ... the major being windows registry, kernal, or malicous code. in this instance it appears to be STO causing the problem.

if those affected could record the bsod, the problem can be determined,, each of you will have to submit your bsod, and .log files to be sure that your problem is not seperate from others's bsod's
