Until we get the following I plan to post this every time we get a patch so the devs know what I (and I honestly think many others) want. The title is the number one issue for me that hasn't been implimented yet.
Auto Fire for all laser weapons in space. Hitting space bar to fire all but the two auto fireable weapons is murder on my keyboard and overtime this WILL become a game breaking issue for me.
Auto fire for one weapon action on the ground. It was in closed beta so I was rather surprised to see it not here when the game launched.
Ship interiors such as enginearing medical, crews quarters meeting room and ready room. I don't even care if they are customisable starting out, but I think a lot of people who RP want these, and perhaps others who dont but may just want to wander there ship. Functionality would be best, but I can live with just being able to see it.
Won't autofire on all beam weapons result in weapon power being drained to nothing (unless you only have 2 beam weapons or alot of eps conduits) which will cause the player to turn it off for a bit then turn it back on? And wont said player come right back to the forums and complain?
[/devils advocate]
seriously though, it would be nice, might cause players to think more about weapon management too!

I simply want the option, for those that don't it , its as easy as not using it. But you're right people will ***** about it either way. I think.

Yes it will, but in this situation the player will have the option to not have EVERY phaser on auto.
I would love to set all my phaser to auto fire, and be able to manualy fire cannons and torpedos by clicking the icon.
Gameplaywise, I enjoy getting myself into positiona nd not having to constantly mash buttons. There is a level of success when you are able to get in the arc and fire off that volly that wipes out that warbird.
Besides, doesn't having the players mash the space bar do the same thing? Fires all phasers that are available at the target?
Played two nights as a LTCMDR and have now discovered the space bar problem everyone has been talking about...
Do not like it.
It was alright when I was still using one phaser beam and an auto cannon since the time between hitting space was long enough that it did not feel too brutal.
Now that I have switched over to my cannon escort..... guh... last night was not pleasent.
It is a deal breaker for me over time as well. I have enough trouble bouncing around activating my myriad powers, turning and facing, and opportuniistically firing off qunatums... I do not need to be playing guitar hero with the tap-tap-tap in time with the cool down at the same time.
I like your concept of posting this after every patch. I, too, feel that this is important. I should be able to focus on positioning my ship and BO powers instead of this ridiculous space bar spam.
To put it in comparison, in other MMO's do you have to press a key every time you swing your sword, shoot an arrow, or fire a gun? And if you did, was it fun?
The more I've played on my Lt Cmdr ship, the more I think this would be a nice addition. I'm not randomly slapping my space bar, but pushing it when my weapons are ready, and it's far too often.
But if Cryptic is whole-heartedly opposed to auto-fire on the energy weapons, I have an alternative proposal. Please make my energy weapons drop the enemy's entire shield in the first barrage. That way I can launch my torpedos to finish the job without abusing my spacebar.
Another thread suggested a keybind to work around this problem. Does anyone have a link to instruction on how to set that up?
I would like to see all weapons to be able to turn on auto but other things as well like minigames while waiting on other people like tongo or chess or other gambling games for energy credits. Perhaps more exploration and diplomatic missions, more capacity for pvp matches and less waiting on them, more crafting options, more noncombat roles or careers like a musician or dancer. More factions and a neutral faction for freelancing and traders, housing, colonization of planets and terraforming and building cities. Just because the majority doesnt like it doesnt mean there are other people that do and those people like to play games for years not months like so many of these so called MMO jumpers... give us a game that will last years....

Right, but that's how progress is made. You solve a major problem, and maybe you'll create a minor problem in the process. So what? A minor problem is way better than a major problem.
I am so confused as to why Cryptic won't even discuss this issue with us. The demand is definatly there. I have been on the forums long enough to know that if this was implemented someone would complain but I doubt we'd get so many posts asking for it back.
I really do fear stressing the durability of my keyboard a little too much by hitting the spacebar in a hyperactive manner all the time.
Actually, since my girlfriend sits here with me at nights watching TV while I play, I'm even more concerned stressing the carrying capacity of her nerves to such an extent, that i might have to begin worrying about my own physical integrity.
So in order to achieve a nonhazardous gaming experience for me, to save my girlfriend from a mental breakdown and to facilitate a longer lasting relationship, an autofiring option to all weapons has to be implemented.
The game is meant to be progressed by player imput, yet despite the overwhelming majority of posters on here asking for it, the devs have blatently ignored it.
There is actually a workaround for this. Use a Macro Program. It is NOT an exploit under the EULA. I have one, and it fires ALL my weapons, both phasers and torpedoes, when the target is in their arcs.

Not everyone has the patience/skills to use such programs. I'm not bad with computers, but for the life of me I could not get any of the progams I tried to work properly (apparently my hot keys have been disabled and I have to tinker with the registry). And I'm sure the average user wouldnt want to fiddle with this either.

Watch out for flamezorz...Gambling is against Starfleet regulations =P i agree though, mini games would be fun, auto firing would result in less hand strain. I personally use a G15 Keyboard an n52te speed pad and a programmable mouse for my button mashing needs. With the exception of this mouse, my keys are all programmable and have a spam-toggle option, the n52te I have to hold the button down, but that is easier on the hands than constantly mashing away.
While, this is a good alternative, it isn't an alternative everyone has access to without spending more money. So I too agree on auto fire toggle option.
Oh god, yes please. Autofire for beams/cannon/turrets. Torps and mines are fine for manual fire, but energy weapons are rodiculous.
And for the people that say that it would drain energy, well, not in call cases. If I mix beams and turrets, or use EPS consoles, no more energy problems.
I've never used macro programs so it might take a while for me to figure out how to use one....that of course requires me to actually TRUST whomever i get said program from.....meaning not likely to happen.
this needs to be addressed by cryptic, we shouldn't have to be getting third party software to make the game not feel like an INSANE wack-a-mole game. this FEATURE is incredibly TRIBBLE. who in their right mind would say to themselves, why yes our players will enjoy hitting their space bar button every second or so on top of keeping track of postion/shield management/energy management/special powers.
sadly since there has been absolutely ZERO indications that cryptic has even ackowledged this issue i suspect they are very aware of it but simply ignoring.
as to auto firing causing energy drain.....it can be like it is now where you can select what weapons will auto fire so if you only want 4 phasers auto firing only 4 fire. leave energy generation to the players discretion on what consoles they use.
and i don't want auto fire for torpedoes/mines....JUST energy weapons.
Again, as I have stated before and will continue to advocate:
Give us Auto-Fire for all our ship's weapons. It would be no one's fault but the player's own fault if they set too many weapons to auto-fire and find themselves out of Weapons Power. If a player cannot manage their power levels, then they shouldn't be fighting space battles in the first place. I do not need the game "dumbed down" for me. At the very least, if you are so concerned that players will not be able to comprehend Power Management, then put it as a Toggle Option in the Options Menu and leave it defaulted to the way it is now, but allow us that can manage our Power to turn that feature off and be able to set what we like to Auto Fire.
Comments
Cryptic please consider the stress damage the lack of auto fire is having on our mouse buttons and key boards.

Denny Crane.
But this may ease you: there will be a "fire-all-weps" in C-Store very soon for just 1500 CP.

Real good communication cryptic
Autofire and ship interiors need to be a priority.
Cryptic, perhaps a little response from yourselves about this issue wouldn't go amiss. Do you guys agree that its needed or not?

Shame on you Cryptic.
Add auto fire now!
