$299 Lifetime subscription?

Is anyone picking up the lifetime subscription now? Is it worth it at $299? I missed the pre-order deal. And wondering if I should go for it. Been playing for a few days and like it. But it is my first MMO game.

That is really for nobody else to decide but you.

But keep in mind the present lifetime subscription cost is about the same as if you paid the monthly subscription for 20 months in advance. So, if you think you'll still be playing two years from now, it could be a viable consideration. If you suspect you may not be, then maybe it's not.

Ya, even though I bought a lifetime when it was cheaper, if your new, you should consider the 15$ that gets you to the 60 day mark as a breakign in period. You will know if you like it by then, it's only 15$ more dollars and 60 days will educate you alot about it.

I am happy, presonally, with my purchase , heh atcually two my wife and I both got one at the same time. But a dose of patience for 15$ (30 day free with purchase, 30 days for one month paid) is worth it.

Lifer - and I was nervous it was a bad decision, but honestly?

    Liberated Borg rule.

That, and I look at it this way - I'm REALLY enjoying the game right now. Solidly enjoying it. I just made it to Commander and spent two hours fitting my ship and customizing it. I'll probably be playing in a year, and if I'm not, I can *always* come back because it will ALWAYS be here.

So if I go broke. Lose my job. Can't afford a monthly sub or a game.

    It's still there.

    Right?

divide 299 plus the cost of the game itself, by number of hours you're likely to get of entertainment.

For me, it came down to WAY less than a dollar per hour, because I fully expect to get about 2-4 hours a day, 3-5 days a week out of this game. Building ships, playing with the character designer, doing battles, raising tribbles, working the exchange for the best deals I can get.. making friends... having fun.

Sure I'm only LTCMDR 2 right now.. and I've been playing since headstart.. but that's just fine.. I'm not in this game to power through it, I'm in it to take my time and enjoy it.. work my way up, then do it all again as a Klingon. Maybe by Then we'll have a romulan faction.. and I can do it all again as a Romulan. Who knows?

2-4 hours per day = average 3 hours.
3-5 days per week = average 4 days.
    52 weeks in a year,
    3 x 4 x 52 = 624 hours

Lifetime subscription (I got it in time) = $250
Cost of game (DDE) = $60
    250 + 60 = $310

    $310 / 624hrs = $0.50/hr (just about)

And that's just the first year. For me it made sense. Hows the math look for you?

I got the gold edition yesterday so that gives me another 59 days of play time before I decide.
But given that I've got a lifetime Lotro account as well and I'll only be playing about an hour a day I don't think I'll be level capped by the time I run out so I'll probably be getting it.

As for the price, I think at 299 its worth it for me, works out to about 210 euro at the moment.

And of course when Star Wars comes out next year I'll be doing that on the lifetime as well :)

It is my real first also and took a lifetime sub because i am a huge S.T. fan for many years and really enjoy the game, also see for yourself how it is and don't listen to all the negative posts on the forums most of those players have been playing MMO's for years and are bored. for us newbies it's a great game

You know I have been playing MMO's for years and this game is worth the lifetime sub. There is alot of room for patches and expansions and the way they run episodes is fantastic. If your worried your not going to get your moneys worth don't worry this game is solid. The company has developed other games City of Heroes and Villians which was great games in the superhero sense. Then they did Champions which was less than great. This game I see being their bread and butter kinda like World Of Warcraft is for Blizzard. So I hope this helps from an MMO Vet.
