When you hit purchase, over 400% more energy credits are removed from your inventory, then the designated price!!
This is pretty frustrating, as it also looks like it's not working, when you don't have enough energy credits for the customization change, while you think you have! As the designated price is within the amount of credits you actually have!
I really hope this fix is in todays patch. Thanks.

Actually, the price is exactly 5x the given amount shown. I've bugged this in game as well as on the forums. I hope it gets taken care of as well.

It's pretty frustrating as I completely bankrupted myself with a total customization 2 days ago, that ended up a hell lot more expensive then it should have been.

OMG this ticks me off to no end, I had over 21,670 and just to paint and add a designed to my ship, costs 1,205 and the other just 205, just 1,410 right?
when i purchased i had 13,700 left WTF?? FIX THIS!
havent said anything about because id figure they'd have it taken care of, but its still happening.
anyone else have this problem? I know how much I had when I started the thing, just dont understand why take so much?
Guys shouldn't be customizing your ship like you change your underwear. When I first get it, I customize then it is pressed into service, and it is off to war. In a time a war, you don't get your nails manicured every other day do you? No, you do it once before you go then boom your done.

First time customizing it since I got my Lt Commander ship like over a week ago, I dont customize all the time..
Last time i customized I had the same problem..
I haven't had any problems to my knowledge, and I have 8 ships... But then again with the money I have, I'm not sure I'd notice it... I'll have a wee go when I get online and see.
Is it really all that bad? If you play keeping 1 style of ship, let's take Science Vessels, you don't have to buy any ships, apart from either a Recon or a Deep Space Vessel, depending on which you use your ticket for, now playing through missions alone, I had clocked up 1.4 million credits at Admiral 1, I bought all Tier 5 ships, and I still had about 400k at the end of it all. So really, what do you need all of those credits for?
Actually, I got a reply to my bug for this and here is basically what they said:
The problem isn't that we're being charged 5x too much. The problem is that the cost to customize is only showing 1/5th of what it actually should be.
I was like, wtf? I wouldn't have gotten the ship customization then if I knew that was the actual cost.
So the bug fix will be that it will still charge you these high amounts, only now you'll actually know about it.
And they won't refund your energy credits either.
If this is true, this is absolute BULL****. This bug existed in Beta and they still couldn't bring themselves to fix it. As far as I'm concerned I want the 11,040 ec back just for the principle.
Once they switch it over to the CORRECT price quoted, then I will agree that I should have lost the credits. Until then, this kind of behavior will seriously affect my impression of those in charge of these decisions.
If they'll rip people off like this on economic concerns (even in-game fake money), then the sky's the limit for what they'll tweak and say "Na na, eat it" in response.
Get your act together, please Devs. Bugs are one thing, but simple addition and subtraction and presenting the correct value in the "Cost" box are absolutely elementary.
Yeah, I got burned by this bug last night. I guess I need to search the forums before I do anything new in the game. :P I will jump and scream and yell if they tell me they're not giving me back the 16000 credits the game took above what it had me confirm it would take.

So that excuses them from charging 5x what they say they'll charge? I doubt very much you'd feel that way if the place you ordered the game charged you 5x what it said on the box. :P
Hmm, I think that really isn't on. I thought it was a bug that was overcharging us. If customisation really is to be that expensive what is the point. For example, I decide I hated my nacelles and saucer section, just to change those two cost a fortune.
Considering you can be stuck in the same tier ship for so long, it is inevitable that you will want to make changes, I mean who doesn't get bored with the same thing all the time. I think it should be the amounts it's actually showing on-screen at the moment, they seem pretty fair to me. However, five times the amount currently being shown is insane.
I mean, come on Cryptic, customising our ship is fundamental to this game and certainly adds to my enjoyment of it.

I'd say that's bs too because when I tried to customize my Excalibur to a Connie Refit it charged me 15k for saucer & pylons after 5 attempts at customization without any changes going through but charged me like $1k-2K hull & $1K-$2k for the neck. By their reasoning they are trying to say that a full conversion should cost about $75k but how's that supposed to work when what it charged for the hull and neck matched the display cost of $1K-$2k each? It doesn't add up at all.

Upgrades and such, I usually dont worry so much about money, I just started really making money again from what I bought for my ship as in weapons, also because you have to get more money, just buying stuff off the exchange wipes you clean of cash, luckily by helping newbies the loot drops I earned that didnt have what I was looking for were sold I was able to make enough to maybe save for a bigger science vessel. They look rather nice.
anywho, when I was wanting to use at 2,000 from my earnings just for customization, but it turned into a rip off, big difference in amount left, I dont understand how it happens to some and others not at all (so they say), unless they are lying which I doubt...
Just looks like they increased customization costs on exterior ship cosmetics. Bridge type is still the same price. If Cryptic actually had a clue they would realize it's almost cheaper to just buy a new ship then do any kind of moderate overhaul to the look and design of your ship. Lower prices to at least half of the increase and it might be feasable. As of now it's just broken...
Yup, I just saw they increased the prices by 500%. Are they that facked up at Cryptic??
Customization is one of the strenghts of this wholy unfinished buggy game!
At least they can lower the prices with 500% as to where they were.
I don't understand this at all! 4000 energy credits to change a single part of my T2 cruiser???
Either Cryptic has lost any sense or they gonna plan on adding customization pots to their C-store.
Wich would make me insta quit this game right now. Because it seems they gonna employ more and more sleezy MT tactics you see in the F2P games. /facepalm!

As for the rest of the post,... HUH?
wow, thats pretty pathetic.
guess I wont be customizing anymore.
