I took a mission to deliver some probes to a plaet. At the time I had 1 probe and nto the rest so I delivered 1 probe and then went to the star base to get the rest, When i returned to the planet with the probes there was No way to contact the planet to deliver the rest of them.

Am I missing something here or is th is just a bugged mission?

Soundsl ike a bug, when I do that type of mission I will get hailed immediately after returning to the planet.

Just to clarify you have 10 probes in your inventory when you arrive at the planet?

The planets in the exploration zones phase in and out. This is why you should never accept those missions unless you already have 10 items that are needed in inventory.

wait a min and watch the bottom right of the screen and the mission will be posted there and click on it

I always carry 10 of everything, and 20 each of the 2 most common ones, food and medical supplies. My thought is, I'm in command of a Federation vessel that will be tasked with relief efforts when the need arises, why not be preppared for those missions ahead of time? At lower ranks, it's tougher on the inventory space, but at higher ranks it becomes much less of a problem and very conveniant to have on hand when needed.

That mission type freaked me out the first time I came across it but I make a point of avoiding those. Even now at Cmdr 3 I haven't got 10 of any commodity from looting it. So I just reject those missions and go back and find another one.

Seconded...I ditch those missions every time since I don't want to keep my inventory cluttered up with stuff I might eventually need one day. That's what my bank is for :p

Not a bad idea -- though kind of hard on the inventory space.

You can store the items in your bank as well, and they'll be accessed; same as the 'craft' items.

Think they should put those items in the ships replicator.

Totally agree - as soon as those missions come up, I immediately warp out of the system to grab another mission. I'll let some other Starfleet officer keep junk loot on them just for these kinds of missions. My ship is one outfitted for war.

So it carries lots of Tribbles to beam onto Klingon ships instead. :D

I had this problem, and have worked out how to solve it.

You have to return to the point where the anomaly showed up the first time. Then you get a "Continue with this mission" option. However I agree its a silly system, and could do with a tweak.

I had one of those the other day. i trans warped back to Sol got the items and when I returned to the cluster I had a tab that allowed me to re-enter the system to complete it.

This type of mission is very Star Trek, and very nice to do.

That's my thought as well. Hence the reason I carry said supplies in stock at all time. Starfleet does that kind of thing, even in the midst of war.

Weird. I haven't had a problem with these missions since Closed Beta.

Head to the planet, find out what they need, warp out of the system, find the nearest transport that sells what you need (or transwarp to Sol if you have to) and buy 10 of said item, return to the system you came from, select the "Continue Mission" button, get hailed... mission complete.

I've done about five or six of these in the last couple of days and never had a single problem -- unlike in CB when I could NEVER complete them.

You're not actually carrying them around with you on your ship, are you? It'll pull 'em straight out of your bank for these types of missions.

I bugged those missions with the words "NO FUN" either. They certainly are okay for the game but not in the lower levels when you have to go buy the stuff. I went bought the stuff, came back, had no contact and now in my inventory I have tonnes of it. A complete capital waste of time. I was very mad.

I don't take these missions, either, because at low levels I simply didn't have the energy credits to buy all the needed supplies. They need to be cheaper at least.

I remember back in Closed Beta you WERE able to Replicate those things. So when asked for 10 Shield Generators, you just popped open the Replicator, ran off a bunch of supplies and hand them over. It worked well, took less time and gave the same feeling of completion. The whole point of Replicators is that you don't need to carry stuff around - just create the stuff when you need it!

Yup just ditch em, but at the same time, yes you should be able to replicate it.

I had one of those missions bug out on me in beta. I flew to a starbase and bought the 10 shields and went back. The mission popped up for me to enter when I went back into the cluster but the guy never took the shields from me.

I've done two just like it since head start and they where fine. I had one where I had 6 items in the bank and bought the rest from a freighter.

I really don't think they are worth the time and effort though.

I warp out whenever I get one of those missions.

I've managed to keep a lot more EC since I can just sell whatever provisions I find, and I save a lot of time since there's always another random planet nearby.

I think it may just be a matter of some more polish for these missions to really fit in. You obviously made the effort to give it a try though. If Cryptic can make these missions a little more variable in their "flavor", so to speak, I think they fit in great for the game's atmosphere.

Wow, you guys are really kinda doing it wrong. Okay, Aid the Planet missions when done one at a time, aren't worth it, but here's how you do it. Accept the mission, then continue on with your Exploration missions.

Once you get 3x Aid The Planet missions, you run to a Trade Ship in Sirius, and buy all the items you need. Once the Exploration Cooldown occurs, and you get another do 3x Exploration in Cluster again, you go in, turn in the 3x Aid The Planet missions with the items you bought from the Trade ship, and voila, you get 3 x the mission turn in SP + the SP from the 3x Exploration completion in less than a minute = Win!

Quick and easy. Or, if you have the money for it, you can keep the items you need for these in your Bank (not in your inventory like someone else suggested) and you can turn in the missions with the items directly from you bank when your in the cluster. Takes you 20 seconds or so, and you have 1 exploration done.

However, the other thing to keep in mind is that each time you go into these Aid the System maps, you have 3 - 4 Anomalies you can pickup. So, you go in, Accept the mission, while picking up some anomalies, and then come back after buying from the Trade Ships and pick up 3-4 more anomalies, so, if your into collecting crafting stuff, there you go.

If this is true someone at Cryptic needs to stop smoking, I'm sitting here now stuck with three of those missions to complete in what amounts to an empty space and I need to find some invisible point to be allowed back into the system? I'm a Star Fleet officer wouldn't I just "map" where the system is? No I'm fairly certain this is a bug because I often get the complete those missions buttons to pop up as soon as I enter the system but often times they either vanish as soon as you load into the zone or show up some minutes after sitting/wandering around.

Yeah, usually I just move around a bit in the system. Do a big circle or whatever and they all pop-up. It's never taken me long to get them all to pop-up at once, and I didn't need to find where in the map I originally picked it up from.

Thanks for the tips. Granted I'm not there yet (LT.5) I'll definitely have some of these items in stock for when one of these missions do come up.

Just to be sure I understand, because I didn't before I read this thread, to aid a planet I need to go find the supplies (satelllites, med supplies, food, communication arrays, whatever) at a starbase or freighter and PURCHASE THEM?? It's a pain to leave and come back, but do I have to purchase the supplies? And if so, please help me understand where I go to purchase them...and how do I see my EC balance??

    THANKS!!!!

You enter unexplored Space, somewhere that no other Federation Starship has been before, then are hailed by an unkown race who know who you are and with out investigating you just give these people whatever they ask for.
As far as you know this could be a hideout of the Sith Lords and they need these parts to finish a Death Star.

You also get commodities as drops. So, when you loot something like a water purifier or a warp coil, keep a hold of it. You may need it sometime.

Here's some bad news for you....there's a quest on DS9 where you need to get 2 commodities for some land owner. Not to give out spoilers but you may want to keep a hold of entertainment provisions and self sealing stem bolts.....

Do you get anything special for doing the aid the planet missions? If not, I see no reason to do them at all.
