The Star Trek Online Galaxy Atlas (or "Not Just Any Map")

Hello all,

I've come up with what is hopefully the easiest method for finding a particular star system by name. I call it the Star Trek Online Galaxy Atlas, and like most atlases, features a very simple letter-number grid system.

It's one thing to say "Yeah, Memory Alpha is in the Teneebia Sector," but where is that, exactly? If a system you're looking for is not in the same sector block as you, it's not always easy to locate it.

Well, now it is! Try my handy-dandy Galaxy Atlas here: http://stowiki.org/w/images/7/7f/Atlas_2010-02-26.png

Or, for a clean, printable version with a little more information on it, check it out here: http://stowiki.org/w/files/STOAtlasPrintable.pdf

Enjoy! I hope somebody finds these useful!

Only quibble I have is that you could've used the colors a bit to differentiate who owns what sector (as the in-game maps do), but as a basic reference tool I can see why you went with what you did.

It's a minor quibble at best, though, as it's still a brilliant bit of work.

I salute your efforts, sir! o7

Man there are some really nice maps popping out now ... now how do we get some of these into the game.

Really wish Cryptic allowed customizable UIs like some MMOs do.

I was going to color-code the systems list, but then I went with letter-number system instead. I could definitely change the colors to match more closely to the factions that control the space. Glad you all like it!

Hey guys, I've updated the Galaxy Atlas map with the following:

    * New upcoming Klingon Empire "exploration" (conquer?) areas listed: Azleso Expanse, T'Ong Nebula, D'kel Star Cluster, and Eridon Nebula
    * Changed color coding to a more sensible faction-specific color for each sector block.
    * Added faction logos -- the Romulan logo is the 2379 version, which is more up-to-date than the one in-game.

Hopw you all find it useful in your travels!
