STO Gold Edition + 30 Days Free

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
I recently bought STO game with the 30days free trial from GAME in the UK. I put in my key in www.startrekonline.com/enterkey and i says i have subscribed for 30 days STO trial and now its saying enter the game card key and i dont have it. Do i have to pay more to play the game? i am quite disappointed in this.

Any suggestions? do i need to pay 1 month subsciption in order to use the damn 30 days trial?

You should have the retail code on the back of the manual, plus another code on a slip of paper inside. (Usually on the paper advertising the DS9 Costumes.)

If you buy the normal retail box, you must enter some form of subscription to acivate your game. Once your subscription is set up, you can remove your billign details, so they dont charge you after your 30 days are up. Every major MMO company does this.

although you get 30 days free, you still need a subscrption in place to get started, but it wont bill you until after the 30 days, giving you plenty of time to cancel later if you're not happy.

You should have the code on the back of the manual. That is your game code. Once you enter that under http://www.startrekonline.com/activate (make sure you are logged in first) you should be prompted to enter your supscription/billing information. Enter that code first, then any other code you have.

I enter the key i put in from the back of my manual game book and it only has my 30 days trial activate code. This comes up and i tried putting in the same code and i thought id use the DS9 code as well and still nothing.

Same thing happens to me; I dont get it i though it would be enough to put only the game key, and not subscription details :/. So how do we fix this anyways?

Once you have entered your retail code, if you havent already paid for a game time card, you will need to enter your credit card or paypal details. Dont worry. You wont be charged at all until your free time expires. You can cancel immediately and still play the 30 days free.

Whatever you do, you need to put a subscription on the account to ativate it. Every MMO does this.

if you did not enter a subscription option and payment method then the code is not activated. Try entering the key again at www.startrekonline.com/activate
you should then be sent to a subscription page where yu select the recuring subscription option.
after you select one you will then be taken to payment method where you have to enter a credit card, game time card or paypal account.
after the payment method is verifed then your account will be active with the 30 days free time (you will not be charged for teh subscription until after the 30 days)

I've had the same problem, tho I DO NOT want to use any credit card stuff, so I have no other choice than to chose Game Card... But I can't get thru that because then I'd have to actually buy one before I could go on. And that is something I refuse to do at this time, because I don't even know if I like the game enough, seeing as I haven't been able to play it yet to try out.
And to reply to the whole all major MMO's do this... not true. Lotro does not. Way better system than this tbh. Tho nothing against this game. I'm a trekkie. But this system just sucks bigtime.
I would also like to add that I bought the collector's edition and received no extra 'trial key' with it.
