Ideas for new Content

Hey guys,

I have seen many threads about lack of content on here. So, I started to think about what content to add. I could come up with only the normal stuff from other MMOs I have played, but nothing star trek. While the servers were down one night I broke out my old movies and I notice that their was some unanswered things in some of the movies. I thought to myself , man I wish I could find out more about some of these Items. Then it hit me they would be great content for STO. So, if thier is any ideas for new content put them here, maybe the dev will see them maybe not, Here is my ideas.

A quest were we learn more about the probe from star trek IV on were it came from and the reason it was sent.

every one can look up online that vyger from the motion picture is the precurser to the borg, but what about a group of quest on find out the information for starfleet uncovering the history of the borg, maybe even a visit to see vyger.

What ideas can you come up with?

    ooo i like the idea of borg origin missions and seeing vger that'd be so awesome :D

    and also more ships or at least ability to customize you higher tier ships with lower tier parts like the nacelles/ saucers and stuff, to make our own designs, would take away the need for new ships :D

    Here's my wishlist:

    - While an SDK isn't going to be released, I'd like to see a better, formalized channel for submitting game play recommendations. I know the Cryptic folks scans these forums, but I don't get the sense of what is being considered/listened to.

    - Some sort of "Journey to Babel" where Cryptic hosts an online event (conference) for members to provide feedback. Both lifetime members and month-to-month members should be treated equal. (Disclaimer: I'm a lifetime STO member.)

    - New episodes, as created/written by fans.

    I realize this is a messy proposal. Cryptic is comprised of professionals; they need to devote their time to game development. And Star Trek is comprised of zealous, hard-core fans who want it done *their* way.

    How about a proposal area? Somewhere within the game (maybe a special Starbase area) where members can type out/submit story ideas (sans payment, must give up their rights to the ideas, etc. to prevent legal issues). These ideas would be databased/reviewed by Cryptic for consideration.

    Here are some of my ideas:

    + Your starship is hijacked by Romulans, Klingons, Cardassians, ? while it is docked. You, plus one additional character, must captain a different starship and crew to pursue and disable your ship--and apprehend the thieves.

    The game would select your ship for you. (If you had a science-based ship, you might wind up with a tactical-based ship.) There would be space battles as you pursue your ship, culminating in disabling your ship, then pursuing the hijackers in a ground-based adventure. Failure to capture the hijackers would result in your ship being retaken--and forced to continue the pursuit until you've completed your mission.

    I would suggest the reverse, too, as your crew hijacks a Klingon vessel and is pursued, eventually escaping to a planet surface where you wait for rescue while battling pursuing Klingon ground forces.


    + The Klingons or Borg have overrun your sector. As you battle overwhelming forces, your ship is given the option of retreating when it becomes heavily damaged (not destroyed). Your ship warps away to a nearby starbase where you are ordered to continue the fight. You gain temporary usage of ships within a Starfleet orbital museum.

    Once the battle is over, if your ship is destroyed, you are transported to another Federation ship to return to your ship. If the ship survives, then you return the ship to the starbase. Players should be given the option of buying the ship if they possess enough credits.

    Same scenario for Klingon players, although I would suggest the Undine or Borg as the enemies.


    + Return to TOS planets, such as Cheron ("Let That Be Your Last Battlefield"), where Captains would try to recover some artifact or samples which may help with the Federation's very survival.

    + Tholians!

    + The return of the mysterious automated space station from ENT's "Dead Stop" episode. This time, the vessel appears when a ship is critically damaged. The vessel does repairs -- adding some component which may help and/or hinder your starship's capabilities. This would be a very random occurance; unsure what the in-game trigger would be to make it appear.

    + Did I mention Tholians?

    Another idea could be a "Yesterday's Enterprise" reality shift where all of a sudden, there's a distortion, followed by commanding a DIFFERENT starship (or modification of your own ship). You must locate the distortion zone, assess repairs (whether sending a ship back through a rift, helping activate a device in space (or on the ground), perhaps fixing a mad scientist's experiment gone awry.

    1. Allow raids on opposing bases and planets similar to wows pve, not just in certain locations allow a fleet to gather and create choas where ever they please. Allowing the players to drop in and out of pve to pvp then get a hail from starfleet to aid when ever your in range of an assalt, how cool would it be to dock up with sb1 only to see unclocked klingon, or borg pvp players atacking it. That kind of open end content is what makes or breaks a mmo.(in my opinion)

    2. More Crafting- Allow players to better suit there charter roles. Like a ferangi tailor, a klingon that makes disruptors with special buffs.Maybe some parts crafting for ships( exp. top lvled engine crafter that can make a warp core that would transwarp u to any adjacent sectors, Tactical staions that allow you to unlock special wpn combos, create sensors that will give u twice the loot on exploring missions.) this will create a good economy in the sto world. Theres mining bases in the game use them for miners that would extract dillitium and sell them to warp core enginers. or what ever other content that would work.


    This game has much promice, but much more depth is needed. Understandable the game did just come out, and has done good so far. but to retain everyone and their money, we need more options in the game world.Wow blazed the trail for this now pave the road.

    More dynamic asteroids (probably the incorrect term). I would like to see my ship taking "very" minor damage from hitting an orbiting rock. I would also like to see the graphical clipping problem addressed. But more important, I think it would be way cool, if I can move smaller orbital rocks if I nudge them. It will make some "routine" slugfests more immersive.

    Edit: Just thinking about this more, I would cry to see a maneuver where you use smaller asteroids to identify a cloaked BOP in PVP, if you were able to move them.

    hmmm,more customization.

    that included anything from color change options,and hair options all the way upto new ships etc etc. you get the idea.

    Didnt see this thread before making one of my own for the same topic.. so posting here too.

    Firstly Im nowhere near the level cap (Lt Commander 15) and still not moved into Romulan territory for missions. Though I had during Beta.

    A lot of people are complaining about lack of content and on some level I agree, a lot of this is designed for solo play. What I would like to see is some more to encourage multiplayer aspects.

    Playing through Im picking up missions at my request apart from one where passing by a system I got an emergency distress call, at Lt 2. This is more the style of mission Id like to see where your going about your business and starfleet/Empire contacts you to fulfil a mission not the other way around.

    I would say set up a "looking for mission" mode similar to the current lft only for missions, starfleet/high council would then contact people who are set to do this at random intervals to accomplish missions. These could be simple courier missions, resolving diplomatic disputes, trade runs, fleet engagements, escorts, espionage etc. Simple ones could be solo play, but some would be for team play where it will get a team together to accomplish the task. Once ready it could auto warp them to an instance for the mission.

    Something else, I want to be able to fail my missions, ideally you could fail the ones above, ie ship your escorting is destroyed, fail to solve the diplomatic incident, trade runs/courier could run out of time. As for fleet engagements I would propose adding a 1 death policy to the instance so that if you die during it you leave the instance leaving the rest of the team to work through it, forcing the team to work as a cohesive unit.

    You could even add some PvP versions, but this would give Klingons some PvE content, sometimes you just need a break from PvP and the current PvE just doesnt cut it (not to mention it might even up the random drops somewhat).

    I would like something with Q in it, its not Star Trek in the 2400s if Q is no where to be seen.
    Maybe Q seens us back in time to "create" the Borg (similar to the Crulling of Strat in WoW where we have to defend the future"present" Lich King I dont want a Crulling of Borg this was just the best example I could give)


    I want 10 Man Content in some form so theres a reason for Fleets to exist pass five members.

    I like the idea for player made mission content.
    Romulans would be amazing and more story on Klingons.
    Genesis Fleet missions with good loot for all levels.
    Crafting adds depth, have the genesis mission allow for crafting/mining. Sending probes to planets/moons/asteroids to come back to for mining certain items.
    Merchant class...I know there would be tons of ppl up for this. Crafting/selling etc.
    Definitely more ships to customize with.

    FIRST, A BETTER UI, it just doesnt seem startrek

    VOICE EMOTES!

    smaller or scaled down interiors (bridge)

    speaking of bridge...........need a functioning bridge for combat uses and tinkering


    in addition to piloting your own ship and leading away teams, there should be a looking for group system that will let you use your speci (tactical, engineering , science) on board another persons ship. So for example/....im looking for real players to be on my ship. One person drives the ship, another person fires the weapons, and another does handle the power ect ect and more stuff. We go do missions in space and ground together. Once a team member leaves then they will ge replaced by the bridge officers pre assigned like normal. DAMNNNNNN we need something like this!

    Being a roleplayer, I'd be very happy to help with episodic content, I have so many RPs that could be adapted to work with STO, if I just had a way to submit them and get feedback so that I'd know what sort of thing would work best
