Has anyone got one to work yet? I seem to have hit a slight wall. using some of the information on the Xbox 360 posts i have worked on mapping out some of my controls. However My joypad and my leftstick seem to be backwards in space. I have to map (using Logitech software) the shields to the left stick and A W D S to the Joypad to get the reverse. Now i'm not sure if its a STO issue or Logitech, so i was wondering if anyone else had the same problems.
One other note. For some reason i cant use /bind with Joy 2-12. Any thoughts?
Haven't gotten mine to work... Have you downloaded the latest available software and drivers like the "Logitech Gaming Software?" There's also a way within the game to change your "x" and "y" axis, etc. as well. Playing with those options might work. Good luck.
The trick is getting a good app. The logitech app sucks. I recommend picking up xpadder (http://www.xpadder.com/). It'll cost you 10 bucks, but trust me, it's worth it.
I have the latest downloads and i do seem to have space and ground working now, howevr i have no idea how to bind the cammera to just fully respond to the right stick when holding one of the other buttons. The controls for the left stick and the D ring are still replacing each other ingame. Thanks for the responces btw.
I worked on mine for over a week before giving up. I really wish Cryptic would address this issue of not including a controler besides the xbox 360 into the game engine.
And come on now....
Who makes a semi-space combat game without joystick or game pad support now days...
Talk about forcing people to become keyboard cowboys is harsh...
It would be nice to know what all the /bind designations are for all the buttons so that the binds could be made in game and separate files could be loaded automatically for ground or space.
It's really fairly simple to setup, if not a bit time consuming, you just have to set the right stick to mouse movement, the left stick to wasd, the pad to up/left/right/down, and the other buttons to numbers and keyboard keys. Once you've done that, you can just go through the keybinds in the options menu and set buttons how you like.
i bought myself a Logitech Rumblepad and downloaded the xpadder.. there can't be any simplar program out there than this to make the game pads work. When I told my fleet about it, some took a major interest in it but of course there were those that were not liking the idea that people can use gamepds or flight sticks for the game.. but oh well can't please everyone.
I've found that it the game pad I bought really enhances the game play as you are more into it with your hands at the control as opposed to the hands on the keyboard. Besides it gets a bit hairy trying to hit that ctrl key with your left hand while flying the ship and using the mouse at the same time..
With the xpadder, I was able to set up (tier 3 Battle Cruiser) this is how I have it set up anyways, button 1 I have my Beam Overload - button 2 fire all weapons - button 3 Hield Torps II - Button 4 Torps... so as you can see with just that example 4 buttons under a thumb is easy to hit... not to mention with having 7 more buttons, 2 analog sticks and a direction pad you can put quite few moves to the gamepad. And I STILL have the mouse and keyboard to use if need be..
So yes.. xpadder worth the 10 bucks to get your gamepads working easily.
I am trying the Demo (made a new download record with almost 9 GB), and have just bought Rumblepad 2 in the hope to get a good game control. I think I will try Xpadder - Logitech's Profiler works, and you can do much with it, but it's not too easy to use.
However - in case Cryptic is reading this: Whether or not I will buy STO will pretty much depend on it's built in support of this gamepad. With the many different profiles the game should be able to switch between the profiles by itself. If I see a release notes that says "Supporting (Rumble) gamepad" - I think I'm in.
Thank you for the infos. I have a rumblepad 2 and xpadder. May I ask somebody to send me the xpadder and/or rumblepad mapping? I think you already have found the best setup for STO.
Thank you in advance,
Bye,
G
