I was beaming down to a planet when the game server disconnected me. Now, everytime I try to log in the bar goes about halfway before I get disconnected again. Prevents me from logging in at all.

Your not alone guys, it just sucks cause you buy this fun game hoping to play it, but not so much. I really hope they fix this issue soon.
Welcome to the club. It looks a lot of people here paid money for a game they can't play. I am one of these people. Looks like I flushed 50 bucks down the toilet and obviously I see no point in purchasing a subscription - all I get are "server not responding" and "server disconnected" messages. I see no reason to pay a monthly fee for that "feature".

Don't flame dude... Its a brand new game... there are going to be problems... Just like there is for EVERY brand new game out there. Server is back up though!

Sorry, but you are wrong. I am a technology journalist and I have seen dozens of games released with bugs, issues and such but I have yet to encounter a game that is literally unplayable 90% of the time. When I played the Beta, I could accept such technical issues, but now that I am paying money for the ability to play the game, it's only fair I get it.
i have the same prob
i like the game and i have fun to play it but i can´t understand that someone reached the rank of a captain
the half time i become the message server is not responding
I WOULD LIKE TO PLAY THE GAME WHEN I HAVE TIME FOR IT and not when i have sometimes luck

Agreed. We should petition or something because it seems Cryptic is ignoring these issues.
Same Problem, not all systems but a select few just WILL NOT beam down to.
My fix was changing my Proxy from "none" to "EU" and couple tries it will let me down
This is a workaround, we need a fix I shouldn't have to log out and change "proxies"
how abount running nettest on your connections
Some problems can be the new server trasfering (they are having problems with those) but others is bad routing from the ISP (or traffic shapping)
Column 1 and 3 have values around 500 kb/sec (outgoing/incoming), column 2 has values around 20 kb/sec (transfer rate). If the values in these columns is less than what is expected you may have filtering or blocked ports either on your personal network or from your ISP.
also do a tracert patchserver.crypticstudios.com see if any hop has a high delays.
I'm getting this same issue it happens around the 11pm mark Australian time & in the middle of a Fleet Action in the Gamma Orionis Sector is not a good thing as I really hate leaving Fleet Actions midway through, please it would be great if the problem can be solved

First I would like to ask that you not post in an almost 5 month old thread. If you do not find a current thread it is ok to make a new one.
Second can you run these diagnostics and copy/paste the results.
Run a trace route:
* Click on Start
* Click on Run, or if using Windows Vista just skip to the next step
* Type cmd into the dialog box and press Enter.
* In the window that opens type "tracert patchserver.crypticstudios.com"
* Check the speed listed on the return
If you see any hops over 180ms, this could be the cause of the rubber banding.
How to acquire, run and read the Nettest tool:
Go to http://files.champions-online.com/nettest.exe
Download the application and run it (Windows 7 and Vista users make sure to right click the icon and run as admin if you are having issues with the tool running.)
The Nettest tool checks that the ports required for patching and playing Star Trek Online are not blocked or filtered. Good values returned from the Nettest tool look like:
Column 1 and 3 have values around 500 kb/sec (outgoing/incoming), column 2 has values around 20 kb/sec (transfer rate). If the values in these columns is less than what is expected you may have filtering or blocked ports either on your personal network or from your ISP.

Don't you agree?
Everybody's something always.
It's a job. It's a fun job cause I get PAID to play all the newest games, but it's a job. Feel free to google me. @Techslut on twitter.

What ever happened to the anonymous, thankless occupations like brick layer or carpenter? Being blue-collared has never been more depressing.

Nettest:
Go to http://files.champions-online.com/nettest.exe
Download this file and run it
A command prompt should appear running the test automatically

No you don't want to completely disable your firewall. The better thing to do is to open the TCP outgoing traffic on ports 7000-7499.
Yes because that includes all ports the game servers and other components use.
