So Maybe I am just impatient, but I have been stuck on loading "bins.hogg" for like 20 minutes.

Is this normal?

How long does the total installation take??

Thanks

Yes, it takes a while. There were complaints during open beta about the faster installers because they were single-use, so we changed them to be non-destructive but slower.

Hi, I'm having the same issue with binn3.hogg. Did it get there in the end, Uruso?

Edit: Ok, just as I hit reply it moved on to data.hogg. I'll be more patient :P

Installation time depends on the speed of your computer. If you haev a low end computer, liek a low range core 2 duo, then its goign to take a while, while setups, like a phenom system with sata raid 0 drives, would be a lot faster.

Or you could use the downloader

Stuck on Binns2 for quite sometime when I ran the install.
I just ejeccted the DVD during that phase, and ithe install screen went to a finished process.
Then I got a 9gb download. So I am just installing via a giant patch apparently. :p

That's kewl. Should be done here shortly.

Yea, your basically downloading the entire game. Meaning the same files that are on your DVD, plus a few additions.

    Hey everyone,

I'm having problems installing the game. The install bar seems frozen at \bins.hogg ... I've been waiting roughly 30minutes oin the run...

After first having the issue I read up in the forums \bins.hogg... I uninstalled and tried again... I looked in the cryptic folder and it was empty so I just deleted the whole cryptic folder before restarting the computer then reinstalling the game again. Still stuck at \bins.hogg ....

My computer is pretty fast. Installs windows in less than 10 minutes... I meet all minimum requirements for the game times (x's) 3...

Windows is much smaller than that file. STO's data files are just really really big. (It's mostly because of the huge quantity of textures and maps)

Yeah bins.hogg is 3.3 GB which makes it the largest single file in a game installation I have ever seen.

I just downloaded the starter (for lack of a better word). It took approximately 12 hours. -.- THEN it took maybe an hour for the installer. And finally, I'm still "patching in" but so far that's taken an additional hour and a half. I haven't even been on yet. This better be one hell of a game.
