I have seen a few post on this forum about people reporting that when they plug their headphones into their computer, the sound still comes out the speakers unless they shutdown and restart STO... which is not very good when there are queues.
I found that inserting my headphones into the PC, pressing escape on the client, choose options, select AUDIO, and just change the OUTPUT DEVICE to any other setting, and then back to what it originally was makes the sound come out the headphones (ro speakers depending on which way you are going)
Hope this helps some peoples frustrations like mine
Since this is the only thread I have found pertaining to this issue, I will bump it.
My question is this: If STO supports switching audio devices, which it does, why can I not change the game's sound output to my newly plugged in USB headset?
Let's say I start STO without my USB headset plugged in, friend of mine logs on and wants to go to vent. If I start vent and then plug in my headset, I am given the option to switch to the headset without having to restart vent. To switch to my USB headset in STO, I MUST restart it, which, as MorganUk pointed out, is bad if I'm already waiting on queues.
Currently, STO does not recognize additional audio devices once launched. I know it can be done, however, because both Vent and TS3 are capable of this behavior.
Any plans to address this Cryptic?
Current config:
Alienware m17x
Windows 7 Ultimate x64
IDT HD Audio
Plantronics 990 Wireless USB headset
