Radm Unplayable

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
Yes thats right Cryptic in its eternal wisdom didnt do beta on the high levels in the same volumes as the low ones. I am a RADM2 and the game is unplayable! Every time one switches systems disconnect, rubber banding in cardassian space is TERRIBLE. I was really holding out until I played the whole game to *****. Now every patch makes game play worse and I have to wait 45 days for more quests. This game is full of so much win.

Nobody cares what you are, or that you're complaining that you've done all of the content. If it's so bad, why have you already completed everything in the game? If you haven't, why do you have to wait for the 45-day patch to play again?

See what you get for racing through content? You get to blame things that have nothing to do with your level on your level. Yea, im a admiral, so I get disconnected a lot, ya know, thats how it is brah.

My God he is trying to give feedback on the server status and I 100% agree with him. Almost unplayable at the moment.

Your level is irrelevant, the server just can't take the load again. At this moment there's probably a record number of players wanting to play.

I don´t understand why it would be the players fault that cryptic released a game with no end game content either ?

    Because the journey is important?

End-game is fine and dandy, but the journey is important. Unlike woW, in which, its all about pathetic endgame 'raiding'

This is not WoW, this is STO. We dont like your kind around here...*hiss*

I don't think anyone said it was. However, whining about no endgame content when you raced to the level cap KNOWING BEFOREHAND that there was no endgame content isn't exactly the sign of higher intelligence.

And how did you get to be Admiral so fast anyway? I've been playing since the first day of headstart and I'm just before making Commander. Am I missing all the XP somewhere? I'm playing the storylines and the explores and the defends and the fleet actions...where's all the xp?

Im questing with a science guy and im an escort. Just doing all the quests and skipping the exploration and not really worrying about gearing up.

Admiral level ones aren't the only ones bugged, you dolt. The higher tier ones will be bugged more because there wasn't as much testing, because there weren't a whole hell of a lot of people at max level in beta.

I find it interesting that the trend these days is that it is okay to release a game without putting in content all the way to the end because it is an MMO. Yes, the heart of an MMO is the addition of new content, and that you can continue to play and achieve when you hit the top of the levelling scale (or journey if you will) - but because the model of an MMO is to add that new content, it's okay to not include it.

Nothing to the scale of WoW, for example, where you have a multitude of dungeons and the like - but something. From what I've heard and read, there's really nothing at all.

At what point did we all say that it was acceptable for a game company to say "we'll release the content that everybody is working towards in 45 days" rather than to have something, at least, in there at start?

The whole "It's an MMO" argument holds no water, as it's about the attitudes and actions of the community and these companies/publishers.

It is irrelevant whether a person rushes to the top or not, the whole "It's an MMO" argument suddenly changes as the whole point of an MMO isn't so you can play and hit the top only to find nothing there. In fact, it's the polar opposite.

tl:dr - Why is it acceptable for a company to release a game that lacks the basic content to call it an MMO beyond the inital levelling journey?

I totally agree with the OP.

I am CPT10, with a half level to RADM, and I can't stay connected long enough to get this last bit of level.

I am in ADM space, and it's unplayable. Even with 15 people in the sector, the rubber-banding makes it almost unplayable.

This is a 75% ready game. NOWHERE near ready for launch. Cryptic is playing the "unexpected subscribers" game, but that's a crock of turds. They KNEW how many copies they sold to various retailers. They KNEW there would be subscribers. ****-poor planning is the only reason.

As for making RADM in a week; I play casually in my opinion. I enjoy content, i've done about all of it. I enjoy the game. You don't have to be a power-gamer to level quickly. You just have to stuff those idiot tendencies down inside you and belly up to the trough.

Wanna pull the WoW card do ya? You realize your almighty WoW didn't have endgame content for close 2 months? Your almighty WoW had even worse server problems, and your almighty WoW had even worse queues, closing in one 20,000 (twenty THOUSAND) minutes for people on weekdays. And it wasn't due to population, it was due server size and networking. Every MMO goes through its birth woes, it is impossible to forecast what you need due to budget constraints. Because if you spend a mil+ for a server capable of 1 million players concurrent, what happens if you only cap put at 250k? You lost a ton of money you need to recoup, so they ALL start low and it in as they go, thats why they all gt stable after 4-6 weeks, all add end game in 2-6 weeks, and you all complain about the same **** for 6 weeks. It's amazing, every MMO is like a god damn clone, I should just make C+P responses for every MMO launch so I can just insert random MMO name and be set for 2 months worth of posts.

Yes 75% is not ok with a release. The game is fun. I Want my content and to stay connected. Anyone that cant plan for a Star Trek is so much bull, its one of the largest IPs in the world. I know for a fact that SWTOR will have a smoother launch because they know how popular star wars is.

People always have different opinions of casual. I'm guessing you've played it pretty much every day since headstart and probably logged a good 30 hours in or more in a week's time.

I am honestly willing to send you a legally binding contract that guarantees that it will be the same as this launch, and every prior mmo launch and if it as smooth as this one or better, I will wire you 500$ USD to your bank account. Reason why im willing to do this? No MMO launch in the foreseeable future will be PERFECT. It never happens. It won't happen, there are far too many variables to take into account. This isn't a single player game.

The people who are saying there is something weird about the zones beyond commander level are on to something. the DS9 and beyond zones are like Lemuria was (is?) in CO. I can transwarp back to earth and sail along quite happily through the starter zones but as soon as I hit the DS9 zone and beyond I'm rubberbanding and discoing all over the place.

I've had no issues with Federation, Klingon or Romulan space, but as soon as I hit Cardassian zones the whole thing goes bonkers.

Did you not see the IN MY OPINION in my post?

Regardless of playtimes, the game is incomplete. It's unplayable. Blaming me for levelling up quickly is not an excuse for cryptic to drop the ball.

Oh it wont be perfect I just think they know what to expect as far as server load and Lucas arts know what kind of money they need to put into hardware. No MMO is ever a perfect launch im well aware, that dose not mean it needs to ship incomplete.

Lucas Arts and MMO = Fail. Look at SWG, and look at what they forced SOE to do to SWG. If you think their going to do better for TOR, your sadly mistaken.
