There is a reason why the first month is free for MMOs. Becase there are tons of Bugs and server issues when one goes live. This is the first Friday folks. Give Cryptic some damn slack. They Obviously made one hell of a game for us to enjoy. Lets repay them with patience.
Nothing to worry about. There's a few hundred thousand people playing the game and about 30 people who always run here to complain when the server goes down. When the server is up these same 30 people are complaining about something else. They thrive on it. Don't believe me just don't ignore their posts and watch. They will either start another saying the same thing or bump their own post.
They are in the vast minority and those of us in the majority are just doing them a favor by engaging them.
Yeah I looked at the forum afterwards just to see the 10 + threads pop up complaining, I'm probably undershooting. At this point this really isn't surprising or unusual. I know people want or even expect it to be working near perfect at this point, but it rarely ever works out that way this early.

nerd rampaging half TRIBBLE wookies are on the loose.
They wait for server hickups and crashes like this.....its their time to shine.
Quite frankly I think that some of these complainers need a good punch in the face. It may do them some good. A lesson in humility.

Wrong. There is a free month with the purchase of the game because they want people to experience the game before they decide to pay for it monthly. Seriously, I wouldn't pay for an MMO that didn't let me try it for free for some time first. Not because every MMO has issues at launch. Does WoW give it's new users a free month because they had issues at launch? ... think about it.
Cryptic doesn't have my support for the downtime. If they had any common sense, they would know that EVERY MMO has had issues at launch. They made a game based on one of the largest entertainment franchises EVER! Oh, they knew... they just didn't do anything to prepare.

No thats not the reason they give you the first month free. If I bought the game a year from now I would still get the free month. Two years from now. Three. That theory doesnt hold.

I always understood the first months fee was inherently paid for with purchase of the game?

OMG, i have never seen anyone post their computer config as their signature before. LOL. Did you build that computer or did your Daddy buy it for you?
Seriously, you don't think that headstart was smooth, do you? And open beta, well, that was purely a joke. It's amazing we had a couple of days since the 2nd without a server downtime actually. I was getting impressed by the notice informing us of a "scheduled" maintenance period.
STO is not a very complex, content filled, engaging MMO. So, you would think downtime would be less of an issue. Especially since the primary engine is a re-use item.
It must be all the crafting going on that is causing the servers to crash.
Until we start throwing money at cryptic, Atari paid their bills my friend.
Caught between a rock and a soft nerd...I'll take the soft nerd anyday.
Actually Atari owns Cryptic Studios. Actually as launches go this hasn't been too bad. I mean compared to when Sony released the NGE for Star Wars Galaxies, this has been smooth.

Honestly no. You don't get the first month with the game to be a beta tester. And Cryptic has been at this rodeo before. They should know better.

Well considering the NGE should never have been released... yeah.
AND WHERE IS MY PIE DELIVERY KITTY!!! I WILL QUIT IF IT DOES NOT SHOW SOON!
actually i am of the view that those that complain shoudl be listened to from the sense that for every 1 person that complains 20 wont and will just walk away after month 1 .
Atleast those that complain give the devs an opportunity to read the issues and THEN react how they see fit. Without feedback failure is guaranteed.
This is not cryptics first MMO game they were better off when they wrote games for NCsoft IMO if atari is putting on the squeeze.

Actually, STO is not really an MMORPG game. It is just a shoot em up game that you play online. It's missing any real feel of an MMORPG.

Atari said jump. They had to jump.

But thanks for trying.
In all seriousness, this has been one of the better ones. There's just a mostly brain dead, infantile, vocal minority that's clogging the forums.
omg...thank you..that made me laugh after many pages of rubbish.
I don't really care atm if the server is down but PLEASE dont let the fanboys get ahold of THIS excuse now and start plastering it all over the place.
You can't complain. Your first 30days is free just for this reason. That is why STO starrted this novel concept of first 30days free!! QQmore
OMG it makes me laugh to type it too. I changed my mind. Pick this up as your slogan fanboys!
I always understood the first months fee was inherently paid for with purchase of the game?
I've always viewed it that way.

But, in order to get the free month I had to pay $50 up front.
NO!!! I WILL NOT REMAIN CALM!!!!
I demand Pie for my inconvenience. Key Lime or Banana Cream will suffice!
Just punch a kitty, it helps!!
Just as soon as the Pie Delivery Kitty arrives I will punch it!
Also, cheesecake as a substitute is also acceptable. BUT NO STRAWBERRIES!!!!
How can anyone think that their first 30 days is free, ROFL. I guess they were right when they said that advertising targets the weak minded.
Let's see, maybe this $50 is just paying for this little round disc. Hmm, everything else that comes with it must be free, ROFL.
WHAT?!?! You got crafting!!!???
Did you buy the Double Lifetime Plan and get that as a bonus?
I'm so envious!
Hell, I already have the client on my computer and the pre order code I paid $5 dollars down for...
I'll just sub up with cryptic without actually buying the game and spending that $50.
LOL, nice try, however, if you don't buy a retail key, even if you were foolish enough to buy a lifetime subscription you won't be able to play soon.

Guess I didn't word it properly.
Atari says jump. Cryptic says how high.
