OMG Blizzard and World of Warcraft present: CATACLYSM!!! YAY!!!! Here's the new press release from Blizzard:
With this new expansion we intend to charge you yet another $40 to make everything you have done up to this point obsolete! Not only that, but once you get to the end of this expansion we will have another three expansions all ready to make the time you spent playing worth less than your pathetic life! We know you'll keep playing because that damn carrot is just irresistible!
Seriously, go back to the WoW forums, they might be as excited to hear the STO server is down as people here are excited to hear about yet another beating of that dead horse.

Speaking of dead horse, are the servers back up yet?? The STO ones I mean, to ask the same of WOW would be a foolish question....one a crypic NOP might ask.
I've played it for years and most have a distaste for it, but there's not been much else around. Its probably more like an adiction then anything else.
It still amazes me how attached people are to WoW, I never cared for it myself and looking at it now the graphics are quite dated and not appealing. If I liked WoW I would just go play Runes of magic, basically the same but free with better graphics.
I must say it is rather interesting how opposition can bring together the masses to stand up for a cause that they are so frustrated with.....like when the great war brought our country out of the depression.....lets hope the scorn for the best selling game of all time is enough to keep these servers up folks!!! But I doubt it.
So let me get this straight: If Cryptic doesn't fix every single issue with STO before the next WoW expansion, people playing STO who have WoW accounts will flood back to WoW for the expansion because... what? They wouldn't otherwise?
Cataclysm wont be out till next November, and The Old Republic doesn't even have a release date yet. They have no new mmo competition for at least 9 months. They don't really have to try all that hard.

It sounds like the NGE comes to WoW (i.e. a real dumbing down), but with the addition of rehashed content.
It will however be popular no matter what Cryptic do, at least upon release.
