(Before anyone attacks me, I've been defending the hell out of Cryptic.)
I've been defending you guys pretty firmly, but could you please at least put out an honest statement of what the problem is with all these crashes? Sometimes, **** happens, someone has to deal with it, and who ya gonna call? We're gonna call you. Tell us what is happening so that we can support you.
Is it a bandwidth thing?
Is it a software thing?
Is it a hardware capacity thing?
What steps are being taken to stop this?
What is the ballpark ETA to stabilize this?
If you'd like an answer, /sign. Unless a thread like this gets a ton of views and becomes a visible nag, it will be hard to get a commitment in writing. Gotta keep the thread up.
It is a software thing, a bandwidth thing, all those things - this is what happens when you spend 2 years developing an MMORPG while others take 4 years.
That said, of course they will spin it with the BS 'so much player response' and capacity stuff because that sounds like the game is perfect and just so popular as to cause the crashing. Of course, anyone with a brain knows that is ridiculous - they had weeks and months notice on pre order sales and with the account system required for access to the game they knew darn well what to expect in terms of volume.
Yeah. Give me an answer. If Cryptic wasn`t expecting a huge server overload from a known brand like STAR TREK then I would have forgiven them. But they have royally screwed up for the masses of Trekkies who have been anxiously awaiting STO to go online. And now that it's TRIBBLE up royally, a lot of those hardcore Trekkies will NOT be back. Sad but true. Way to TRIBBLE your fanbase, Cryptic.
Sometimes you have to remind companies that they are answerable to us, and we're actually in charge.
And I'm sure you're making a difference by spamming the forums they barely read. Look I agree they are to answer to us but, spamming a forum does not make them any more likely too. When I say spam, you are not the first creator of this type of thread and we will see many more after you. Do something productive.
This game might not be for you. You seem like more of a person who needs a game that runs locally on your own system so that you can always have it, no questions asked, no faults to be had.
Or, perhaps you have no business buying MMO games the very first month they come out. Perhaps you aren't privy to this kind of thing. You don't seem to be geared for it.
Oh, the server's back up. What was that, 20 minutes?

Please, let's have another hissy.
Sorry Kuber but yes as paying customers we do get to complain. You test your servers during beta and things like this are why we have "stress tests" that no one seems to do anymore.
This isnt about being impatient, this isnt about the starting woes, this is about 5 downtimes in one day with little information from the folks running the game.
Problems are to be expected, lack of communication is just bad business...however, 5 crashes in one day is a bit excessive.

Great idea...

This would be a good thing indeed.
