Quit *****ing about the server stability issues.

Go read the release notes for today..
Server stability improvements.

They obviously upgraded their hardware/software and made stuff better!

No, but seriously. Quit with the negative rants on the forums. I want STO to succeed for at least 16 months, so I can get my lifetime sub's moneys worth.

That is all.

NERD RAAAAAAAGE! Seriously tho, if their servers are having this much trouble, it must be popular =D

Calm down kids, I know you want it NOW NOW NOW but in the real world **** don't work that way. Try being Cryptic for a day. You'd get sick of the whiney little consumers too.

Better? Oh so that's why the servers crashed unexpectedly and why no one can play the game? Man and I've been using that word Better in the wrong manner for all these years.

I find it sad that people expect downtime acceptable these days when it's entertainment you pay for.

    That's possibly true.

But, well, on the other hand, I DESPISE 99.999...% of my clients (because I watch them TRIBBLE over THEIR clients daily with all the altruism of a cat), but they get 100% service, I'll never - EVER - give them anything less, and they'll never know I hate them.

    Why?

Because they may be whiny little clients, but they pay my bills - so I want to keep them happy.

That's part of a good business model.

They had about 100 people not that long ago so that means they have, at most, 3-5 really good people there. I'm sure those people are trying hard to fix the screwup of the rest that got put in because of the release crunch that stopped them from being able to review all the changes inserted by the underlings.

Cryptic pushes beta product live, they have to pay the piper when it all goes boom. If they think that STO won't be vulnerable to the word of mouth that tanked CO (at least so far), they have another thing coming.

I always wonder how many people that do complain here understand the complexity behind a server cluster like this.

It is a little more advanced then a web server, file server maybe an exchange server all in one location.

And we are still only in the first week of a new release, i can still remember how many of these posts i read on blizzards forums when they first started WoW as well, whinge whinge whinge, but of course non of the dudes had any idea on how things actually work.

Since no company in the MMO history has had a first month without performance issues, server downtime, etc, it should show that things are not as easy as you all think it is.

And now someone is going to call me a fanboi, because clearly by so many other posts, if a person got some patience and actually try to put himself into other people's shoes before ranting on, he is a fanboi.... which in that can, i am proud of being one.

    Peace

I can not say I fully understand the complexity but I think I have a fairly good idea. I realize that it is not nearly 100%.

I find amusement in the various rantings on the forum and play along for sheer comedic value.

I am however disappointed on what I was inclined to think was a diverse universe and with so much material to work with it seems Cryptic intentionally took the "easy" route with the game as others are disappointed as well so that only adds to the frustration of the instability issues. Cryptic stated that they underestimated the level of service they would have to face. Though if anyone @ Cryptic was truly a Trek Fan and understood how big the fan base is, not to mention Sci-fi fans in general. They could have had a better scope of the monster they are playing with. That is just my opinion.

Well, STO is release now and we're all paying for it. In closed beta and open beta I could hold my tongue a bit and chalk it up to beta testing because we know what to expect in beta anything.

So now I can sit back and *poke* Cryptic now and then for the downtimes and feel perfectly justified in doing it since I'm a paying customer. :)

But does that mean I vent to no end about it on the forums? Nope. I still love STO, love what the devs did, and know it will get better over time (or at least hope). Instead, I can poke fun at it now and then until the server uptime and such is reasonable, at which the downtime and all of the jokes will no longer funny. Until then.... *poke*
