Yep. **** THIS. I was in the middle of a mission I've tried to complete 5 times and was almost done when I got kicked out. And you know waht? It wouldnt even be have bad if the mission progress WOULD ****ING SAVE.
It stayed up about one hour efore it crashed again. Either the queue isn't engaging (meaning it's letting too many on, then dying due to overload - OR they are indeed expanding their capacity and (unfortunately, the new stuff still needs some optimization tweaks).
Again, this is the first weekend post public launch; and I was expecting 'overload' issues as the general public got their copies - I just hope Cryptic can expand capacity quickly enough as I would love tio see this MMO do well.
As frequent as it's been this downtime doesn't even compare to the amount of 'suck' the Wprld of Warcraft launch was (and I use itas a comparison because it was the last MMO where a company got more players trying it then was expected. So far this game has exceeded Cryptic's expectations as to player population.
FYI - They had a test server up for Champions Online withing 24 hours of that games public launch. I have a eeling the STOtest server isn't up because the hardware slated for that probably went to the live server to expand capacity; and there's more hardware coming online this weekend (per a Dev post).
I have a feeling the first few weeks will be a bit rocky, but they shoukld have things under control soon. Again, i've been through a lot of MMO launches; and while the downtime sucks, it's not that unusual for a new MMO just one week out of the gate (counting the headstart period.
