First I would like to start by saying I am not a troll or a fanboi/fanboy or whatever. I am simply a gamer from the before times, in the long, long ago. What I would like to say is that I am enjoying playing this game but i would like to pass along a few observations and possible concerns.
In the past week I have easily made Captain and amassed 500k creds. I believe at this rate I will make Admiral in about another week or so unless we are goona crash the server twice a day for 4 hours at a time. But then what? What is the end game? Just PVP?
The game feels seriously unfinished. The amateurish launch has been coupled with the usual bugs and server lag/downtime that we came to expect from launches ten years ago. I have since seen much better launches so it is quite a disappointment to see such a famous franchise given a less than stellar approach to the gaming community.
There are still many broken quests and dead end text. There is an overal lack of polish to the game that makes me think this is not something Atari/Cryptic should ask people to pay for. Yet. Especially since they have such an appearantly unprofessional approach to customer service. That can kill any game.
That said we should applaud the incredible graphic backgrounds while groaning at the simplistic interfaces and general ten year old feeling we get from watching stick figures dance around while lazers stream about the room. The AI needs work.
While attempting to approach '4x gaming' mentalities we are once again disappointed in the lack of a map that opens as we explore, a crafting system that has true depth and a Fleet system that is nothing more than a glorified friends list with a shared bank vault.
When we are not bombarded with highly repetative 'kill five of these' missions we are treated to some very well made special missions that are extremely delightful. Surely the future will bring more of these but there simply isn't enough of these at the present time to warrant paying money for.
Overall the game has a very 'solo player' feel which I'm sure will change at end game when there is nothing to do but PVP.
In conclusion, I find the game very engaging and look forward to capping a toon or two but I can't help but wonder if I will pay for a second month as I feel like I have explored all the new life and new civilizations and have no where left to boldly go.

Well I give up for today and I'm not holding my breath about tomorrow. I got nothing accomplished today.
At this point I am thinking about heading off to a different MMO for a few months and give Atari time to finish making this game.

thats likely a good idea for you. This launch thing doesnt seem to be your cup of tea. It takes patience.
