I understand the need for downtime. However Satruday is the day 95% of people are home and able to play the video game. This is a pathetic choice for scheduled downtime for a BUSINESS.
I hadnt thought much of it. But now that you mention it.....
I think the TIME they are doing it is fine. However, it makes sense that Saturday (the date), or even Friday, is not perhaps the best day to do it. Nice point.
Um hello read the update that is shown prior to logging into the game
"Currently, the Star Trek Online server is down. We are aware of this issue and are currently working to bring the server back online as soon as possible. Please keep an eye on this page for updates, and notification when Star Trek Online is available again. Thank you, The Star Trek Online Team"
That's all I see on the launcher. Nothing on there about any Saturday downtime.
I doubt the scheduled downtime will be anywhere NEAR the weekend...I'm betting it will be more like Wednesday mornings at 10AM EST, when just about everyone in the US is at work and not at lunch yet.
you dont see its schedualed either... its crashed BECAUSE to many tried logging in on weekend... simple as that is what I think lol... last weekend only had pre order people in.

My thought / response of the east coast is only a few hours difffernt. Star Trek is planet wide. So you figure Saturday around the world if it is remotely the same that is PRIME TIME.
Just as an example a friend of mine is working 12 hour shifts. He genuinely wants to play ,but between his wife and kids tomorrow at the time the server will be down will be literally his first chance.

Oh noes, the world is verey large and encompases many times zones, someone will allways get screwed and someone will always complain, they did the best they could, it is what it is, move on
Um... I know the Front Page says "...Scheduled Maintenance..." But the fact is that part of the server cluster had crashed. I say this because I couldn't zone, or type anything in Chat, or turn in a mission, or do much of anything except fly around in Sector Space. What I was able to do was file a "bug report". And my guess is that when they got a tidal wave of reports coming in they decided to act...
So I approve. Despite the fact that I really just want to log on and go get a new ship. Being logged in and unable to do so was torturing me!

And even if it was, we need increased server capacity..so i'm all for midday patches that make it crash less.
He he he he.....
