Ok slightly misleading title, but it might grab so attention. I'm just so sick of the childish crying over the game not being perfect. I would say most of the people playing this game have probably come from other MMO's and are well experienced. Problem is that you are well experienced with long time stable games that don't have a lot of downtime.
How many of you were there for the opening of WOW. It sucked. Nothing worked right. There was a bug or an exploit around every corner. Servers would crash and would flicker like Christmas lights in a snow storm. Most people quit with in the first few weeks and went back to games like Everquest. Thankfully many people stayed and stuck it out. They gave feedback to the devs. With patients, understanding, and cooperation, both Devs and players created a shining beacon in what looked to be the dark void of MMo's.
As a culture we've become spoiled, inpatient and juvenile. We have to have everything served to us when we want it and by God it better be perfect. Alot of people have put in hours of mind numbing work to get this game out. In stead of trying to bash their brains in for trying to bring us something we would enjoy, maybe, just maybe we should give them a hand in helping them make this the next major MMO and feel a little pride about being there for the start and having to suffer through a few pesky service interruptions.
Yes the game does have some problems. Yes there are bugs. I have a Vulcan male science officer with a female chest (quite embarrising on away team missions) But, almost everyday of beta, open beta, and now launch, they have made fixes and improvements. These good people have done more work in the last 3 months then most of us will do all year. Give them a break, and give us a break, no one wants to hear the constant bemoaning that there is a little problem.
our biggest problem is we have people who like it as is, then we have people who are disappointed, but want it to be fixed. then we have people who are never going to play, but are here to harm the community. the third group riles up the other two so no would could be done.
What you're saying is that we should be thankful that they've had 3 days of patches to fix things in a row since launch. uh... Why couldn't they do this BEFORE launch, you know when most of the problems were pointed out in Beta? Would that have been to difficult?
Perhaps the server problems could have been avoided if they'd listened to their own PR person who said that Open Beta enrollment absolutely crushed even their generous numbers. Did they not have access to how many people pre-ordered the game? That would just be silly.
Let's just be honest, was Cryptic the only people around who didn't know something with "Star Trek" in the title would be popular?

Very good points I agree but you can't run to Bestbuy for servers. Both the procurement and installation take time. And as of the last update they should have more server capacity by tomorrow, less than a week from launch date. That is really amazing. And yes I am happy that they are making patches everyday. And with every patch they have fixed problems that at least I've thought needed to be fixed. Yes the down time sucks but at least they are trying and not just leaving it as "TRIBBLE'em we've already got their money" attitude.
I think the OP is just sick for the title. Arming children with phasers is not something to joke about.
To me everything is something to joke about. Life is too short and too hard to walk through it without a sense of humor. And since no one is "REALLY" getting hurt why would anyone get their backside all puckered up over that?
