Suggestion- Spam Task Force

Currently with the amount of spamming that is going on it is important to nip it in the bud now. In the last 24 hours I have recieved 6 e-mails about buying creds. Today there was a weazel on the chat spamming the channel every 2 or 3 seconds. Everyone has been doing their duty to report them but action needs to be quick. Setting an example for these guys and letting them know that the second they start and the second they are reported they will be yanked would send them a message that this kind of behavior will not be tolerated. A way to do this is to have someone sitting guard and monitoring the chat, also waiting for reports to come in and investigating and acting on them immediately.

I realize that everyone is busy at the moment programming but it seems like people are in the process of messing with everyone in the game. It is annoying because people cannot communicate on chat with the constant spamming. It is annoying to get emails everyday in game and on the forums with the same messages. It is obvious that these people are opening up new accounts or have many accounts already setup they are using to spam us all with.

This will not need to be permanent. Just enough to fend off this attack for now. If they are taken down swiftly the minute they start they will eventually give up.

I would even volunteer for the job at no pay. I would just get a sattisfaction of putting up in big letters ACCESS DENIED!

The only spam task force I saw after beaming down to Sol Station was FAST scrolling gold seller spam. So fast it looked like a blur. Backing the page up to get them ignored was hard; the system did not seem capable of applying all the spam reports (and associated ignores) I was trying to apply. Whew.

I think the gold sellers might get a rude surprise with STO though; the money system is relaxed and their services are not really required.

it to bad they can't write a program that spam blockers you the moment you put a .com or any other types of dot. I'm not a lawyer, but can a company sue a web sight for advertising in it's game with out permission?

This is absolutely true. Money is no problem at all to make in STO, even if you just sell the junk you don't need/want to the various vendors. I'm unsure how these money spammers actually make any "real" money. I suppose they must be since they appear in every game, but it amazes me that anyone in their right mind would pay for game cash just to get ahead. Each to his own I suppose, but what baffles me even more is the spams for power leveling. I saw one earlier this week that said "Powerlevel Special: 1-50 for only $319.00" LOL! I guess in addition to their ignorance of the relaxed STO economy, it hasn't occured to them just how easy it is to level in this game right now.
