One thing I have noticed (or lack there of) is any reference to your First Officer. Is he simply one of your BO's? Does the First Officer really play no part in the grand scheme of things as your maverick Captain has to go on EVERY Landing/boarding party and touch and click everything anyhow? Shouldn't there be an option to assign one of your BO's the responsibility of being a First Officer and gain a benifit for that? Maybe give him that title in that title drop down box at the very least? It just seems odd you are the Captain AND First Officer and everyone else is merely crew.
Whatever NPC thinks they have the right to call themselves first officer... Which apparently is everyone.
This missions it's that human science officer, that missions it's the Ferengi tactical officer... These two missions Chats Klingon science officer felt like being the first officer.
I don't really see much point in having an in-game first officer designation. It seems to me that the first officer would simply be the highest ranking bridge officer.
I don't know if the "Delta" bridge if available to all ships, but I just got my Lt. Commander Science Vessel, and the Delta bridge has a Captain's Chair and 1st Officer's chair. Your highest ranking tactical officer is sitting in it when you visit the bridge.
Very, very, very insanely cool.
Apparently my first officer is my freed orion slave girl. Yeah, I can live with that. "I need to see you in my ready room, Number 1"
you will always have one bo that is a higher rank than the others (station wise) so I pip them to reflect their station rank despite what their actual rank is for the ground combat skills.
The officer who chats with you during missions is simply the bo with the most revelance to the mission. Combat text would pop your tac bo, science and medical would pop up your science bo, etc.
i agree there needs to be at least a cosmetic "first officer" designation available somewhere. i keep my officers all at maximum possible rank just so they have all their ground abilities available. i don't wanna gimp my away team in that regard. so they're all the same rank, but i do have a de facto "number one", even if it's not an official title.
This issomething I've seen a good few threads with a lot of support for, I really wouldn't be surprise if they added it in at some point eventually either in a major patch or definitely an expansion. People want an official xo.

This would be a kool feature...not only do I have my XO picked out(Bajorian Tactical Officer), my Chief Engineer, Senior Medical Officer, Science Officer, Damage Control Assistant, Operations Officer, Auxillary Officer.
Kirk never wore red, except in the GYM! [refer: Charlie X]
Unless you count the maroon in the TOS crew movies as "red"
Probably that. When the ToS movies, and later TNG, etc came along, they switched the gold/red colors around, making red the command career line, and gold as engineering, and apparently tactical as well.

Would be interesting to be able do designate some of the other officers as section chiefs, just for immersion and fun. Give one of the science BO's the CMO title, one of the Tacticals as Security chief, Engineer as ChEng, etc..
Wouldn't necessarily have any extra powers (we don't want to get into some crazy balance issues later), but I can see where it would add some depth to the experience.

It helps me feel less guilty about slaughtering 12,000 Klingons per mission.
(his bio reflects this)
He is a half-human half-Cardassian with some mild ethical/rule bending issues.
But hey, hes got serious cool. Nothing phases him.

He's your number one, I guess.
some extra power linked to his career.

I played one in beta. I tried to recreate her looks a bit for my XO.
Jameson, since it fits into my naming scheme.
Captain Guinness
Boffs:
Jameson
Bushmill
Bailey
and Dr. Connemarra
Hes hilariously prone to getting stuck in corners
Usually have to leave that nimrod behind because i am too lazy to go back for him
Hes good with the Shield Power though.
Who is a cutie Vulcan female. Not a bad choice.

Yeah, I had one in Beta too.. never bothered to rename them..
I think naming my ships after Irish Explorers, our two crews would get along famously.
