I know this has been brought up before, but I'm surprised they haven't done anything about this yet.
Can we at least get an auto-holster option when you beam to a Starbase? It doesn't make much sense to beam over to a friendly environment with your weapon drawn. If a Marine were working around a military base with his weapon drawn (even in a time of war, and even near the front-lines) people would worry and he'd probably be soon escorted by MP's.
It's a simple request -- just give us a checkbox at the very least.

Yeah we've been asking for this since open beta, people may have even been asking before that but I wasn't there.
I've not personally seen a single response of any kind on the subject from any of the Cryptic staff, which does seem odd since there are generally lots of them about and it does indeed seem like a pretty simple thing to implement.
Yeah, it takes so much effort to press "H" on your keyboard. I think the Devs should stop fixing bugs and adding content so you can save the one second it takes to move your left index finger an inch to the right.

Seriously?
Well, if they've got the time to make the login screen look crappier (imo), adding Ferengi and Klingon character options to the C-store, and *fixing* the ability to change weapons fire colors, then I think they probably have time for this...

I already press 'H', but the fact is that it's quite an immersion breaker.
We're not asking for the earth here, and I don't think anyone is demanding fixes be put on hold to implement right now. It's just something we'd like to see to make the game more interesting to play, and it can't be that hard to do.

It doesn't take any effort at all to press H, but as it been said, you don't see marines walking onto their base, waving their guns around. And on Star Trek, on ANY of the series, you NEVER saw them beam down with a weapon out, unless they knew they were beaming into a potentially hostile situation. And that's actually what I'd prefer. Every mission we have to unholster our weapon, unless we're 100% certain we're beaming into a combat situation.
'Cause it makes no bloody sense to have our weapons out when we're picking up stray pieces of a probe, picking flowers, fixing hull breeches on a station, or any number of non combat landing party missions.
I think its fine the way it is. Would be okay too if they chose to do an auto holster. Perhaps it breaks immersion for some but I dont mind it.
They've given you the option to holster and unholster your weapon anytime you want, and I think thats enough.
Why are you actually opposed to the idea of giving people an option? I can understand if you think you can argue that it's more canon, or realistic, or that you prefer it, but from what I can gather it's none of those.
I guess, if I really thought it was going to make the game worse or that it would be preventing them from doing something far more important then I could see being against it, but I'd imagine they could throw this into a patch with one guy working on it for like 5 mins. Maybe it's more complex, but I highly doubt it.
There are a few aesthetic tweeks that would add much to the overall quality of this games experience, and this is one of the more prominent. Weapons should be holstered when entering any Federation station or planet. I should also be able to see my bat'leth in my hand when I'm out-of-combat in any other environment.
There's an issue at the bank/mail console. When I open mail and close mail, I have to leave the console to get the option to open the bank.
That's all that's coming to me know, but there are a few more small issues. There is lots to fix, however, and these things are hardly game-breaking.

Yeah, you're absolutely right -- they're definitely not the most important things to fix, and I suspect many things like this (and hopefully this as well) are on the "to do" list, but until we hear official word about it it's nice to know there are others that find this sort of bizarre.

Agreed and very good point sir.

Anyway, consider this post a "signed".

I bet that went down like a lead balloon, lol.

So I agree.

Yeah, I just holster it too, but it just seems like this was something they just kinda overlooked.
