Don't know about everyone else, but I never get any warning when the server goes down for it's daily maintenance.
I propose that when the server goes down in the middle of someone's mission, that person automatically be finished that mission when the server comes back up, with an option to redo it if they want to.
This would make many people happy, especially the 50 or so that were doing a fleet action with me: "The Planet breaker" where we only had a few artillery spotters left.
It's launch, these things are expected. Every time I got into something major in this game right now, it's always in the back of my mind that the server will crash. Frustrating yes, unexpected no.
Now, a month down the line and this is still happening, I would be up in arms.
To me, it was a server crash not a maintenance. The reason is that we were several to get kicked one time about 2 mn before the general interuption. Beside there has been maintenance in the past and so far GMs were notifying players
I'm not a fanboi... I guess I'm one of the most critical posters here, especially because of Cryptics catering towards the casual players (to me, a "casual M ->M<- ORPG - player" is a contradiction in itself, but maybe I'm too old or something).
However.
I don't want to see a compensation. Granting a compensation would mean more pressure on the technical department - and pressure is bad. Stuff takes the same time under pressure but quality goes downhill.
So please NO compensation for any downtimes. Thank you.

I sign.
I don't like the "signing" habit but I have nothing to add and I agree.
No compensation needed, it was a server crash and to be honest, i think we have been quite lucky compared to a lot of other MMO's in their release week.
Its annoying as hell yes, but it is also expected.
Go call your grandma, tell her you love her, have a chat for a while and the server will be back up, and you get a bigger present at next birthday / Christmas, whichever comes first Also you might learn something from the old person

I'd be pretty annoyed if it finished the mission for me and I don't particularly want a retry option. The storyline missions atm continue from the start of the last stage which I like.
The fleet action missions like breaking the planet are just on an endless cycle and people can do them as many times as they need. If you want to get to about the same place, try entering the mission and then on the area map change the instance you're in until you find one at about the same place.
You are enabling a bad trend. I will watch all of you fanbois and pounce if you dare to post anything negative about maintenance from now on.
What bad trend? Just think, what if Jackalope saw my post, sat back and thoughtfully stroked his chin... "Hmmmm, you know he might be on to something. Aston Martin's for all!"

"Its only Beta, we should expect this". Yes expect these types of comments for MONTHS. In 3 months it will be "Oh but the game is only 3 months old so of course it isnt stable or has endgame content, it will come"
It would not be hard to add mission autocompletion to the program in the advent of server dump.
It would also be nice if the people who try to make a joke of threads like this see a greater portion of the server dumps.
The point of any game MMO or otherwise is to go thru the content and complete it thus achieving some sense of accomplishment why would you want your mission completed for you? For that you might was well pay to be power leveled
Besides if the power went out while you were playing a tough level on playstation 3 game would you expect the power company to compensate you and demand that playstation moved you on past that part of the game? I doubt it.
And about your parents and grand parents, i am sorry they are no longer with you, neither is mine, but that was not a stupid comment, and do not take yourself too serious mate, you'll just end up old and alone
You realize that the standard $15 a month for a game equates to about 2 cents an hour. If the server is down for 2 hours, would you like the refund of 4 cents? That is what your membership equates to if you are on a monthly payment schedule.
But wait .. isn't this first month free? I guess that means you are entitled to nothing for any downtime this month.
OH PLEASE, get real, do get money back when your power goes off, cable goes out, cell phone drops a call, If your gona play anyones mmo's, down times are a part of it, I have been playing mmo's for 10 years, if I could have compensation for all the down time I have experienced, my last name would be Trump.... LOL

My Grandparents and Parents are dead.
Don't say stupid blanket statements like that unless you know someone.

Boy, wouldn't you feel foolish then....

lol, if we don't agree with you for the compensation thing it means we don't have the right to be upset about the server crash ?
C'm'on man, you can't be serious, lol.
I'm very upset ith this crash but I'm not going to whine for a compensation. If it upsets me too much, I just quit the game, period.
You paid for the right to play the game when possible but when servers crash, it's not possible...you have to live with it.
Don't think ppl are happy with this situation, nobody obviously is happy here...but it's not really important, is it ?
Good one. I also like your avatar.

That would be pretty kewl..... and quite the news story. I imagine it would get some press all over the world...
"Twelve year old ditches paper route to become ATARI CEO"

Okay, 11? Maybe 10?
