Ok I went to Memory Alpha and had been amassing lots of Gathered Anomalies. I had put them in my bank cause they where taking up so much room in my inventory. Anyway I had lots and thought I would process them into something I could use on one of my other ships or to sell.
I hate MMOs when you have to know exactly what you need, go get it from your bank and then make the item.
Anyway what I give kudos to cryptic for is being the first MMO where I can store my gathered items in the bank and then use them at the turn in vendor without actually having to transfer them to my bank first.
Such a simple thing but such a massive time saver compared to other MMOs.
Gonna check out if it works with the mission stuff for the exploration missions.
I agree. This is a very simple system for that reason alone. Champions Online had a similar feature, btw. It doesn't matter if your crafting stuff is in the bank or in your bag, you can use it to craft stuff without the hassle of even knowing where it is.
I found this out in open beta, what I couldn't figure out was what I had to do to buy stuff from the other scientists. I was already LCDR and all the girl wanted to sell me was junk.
truth is, it'sa bug.
at least, it started as one (a dev said so...). they fixed something else recently in CO which broke that behaviour, now it's back as a feature.
This is not the first game to have something like this. However, every pervious MMO I have seen that let you access items in your bank (be it for crafting, quests, whatever), it was a bug, and was fixed shortly after launch.

Do not cry if and when Cryptic fixes this.
I saw someone say Champion's Online does the same thing so hopefully this feature is here to stay.
its a refreshing change making you run back and forth just to drop off and pick up suplies is a fairly standard but also kinda low time sink, and its one of the main reasons why i dont normally enjoy crafting in MMO's.
in fact CO is the first MMO i've ever had a crafter at max level in.
now if only they'd bring memory alpha up to speed in terms of progression tracking...
Anyone know how much you gotta spend on the first scientist before you can access the others. I'm at Cmdr now and haven't used em at all. Its sort of out of the way until now.
I finally get to give them a bump. Nice thought on this. How about supplementing it with the ability to purchase a specific number of an item rather than simply one at a time for as many times as you need.
DS9 Offereing to the Temple mission is a pain in the TRIBBLE this way but if I could right click, choose Purchase X and fill in the info, it would be WAY better.
If there is a bank in same area it makes sense, but for some items you would think it might be better that you have to get them.
So if it is a bank, then it could work in areas where there are banks, assuming the player could just go get the stuff. But if in deep space, it might be that the player has to know what items to bring with them.
If all items in bank are available to character everywhere, if that is the case, bank should have name changed to Ship Cargo Bay. Since everything would be available always.
Or there could be two sections where items that are like that, medical supplies crafting supplies and such get put in the cargo bay, while things that are not able to be used always get put in the bank, weapons armor and such. And then you could be able to open both while at a bank on the same screen, and only the cargo bay item spots when elsewhere.
For story telling, getting items from cargo section could be just beaming them down to where character is.
Honestly Bank is not the best term for a federation storage place anyways, since there is no money used in federation due to the removal of lack of supply of items from power availability and replicators.
