Borg BOFF Ticket 3 days old; still no response

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
When I received my Borg Bridge Officer, (from the Amazon preorder deal) and realized that it didn't come with the promised traits, I was certain it was a simple oversight by the makers of the game. I put in a ticket on Feb 2nd hoping there would be some kind of explanation, and there has been no response, nor any kind of mention in it in the patch notes. So now I'm beginning to think they were deliberately lying.

Dear Cryptic fellows,

Lying to your players is a very bad way to strengthen bonds between those players and your MMO. You better come out with a public announcement on what's happening with the Borg Bridge Officer, and you better do it soon if you don't want to suffer a mass exodus of players.

It would be really helpful if you gave us some idea what it is you're talking about. If your ticket was as vague as your forum post, it's no surprise you didn't get a useful answer.

Rather humerous. 3 days and no reply.

When I transferred from EU to NA on the MMO I am currently playing, there were several thousand people who transferred that day. Even with the problems some people had, my ticket was answered within 45 seconds of my turning it in online and resolved, in game, in a matter of minutes. You know, now that I think about it, I have never had to wait more then 5 minutes for GM help.

I didn't say I didn't get an answer that wasn't useful, I said I didn't get ANY answer at all. And if you don't know what I'm talking about it's probably because you didn't preorder Star Trek Online from Amazon. Anyone that did preorder it from Amazon will know what I'm referring to. But I'll explain it in better detail.

On this page you will find a list of retailers that sold Star Trek Online on a preorder basis. As an incentive for preordering, they offered a special item. For Amazon, it was a Borg Bridge Officer, that came with 3 traits.
    *Nano Probes
    *Efficiency
    *Borg Nural Blast
Until about a day ago, you could click on "Details" and hover your mouse over the "Borg Bridge Officer" and it would list those traits. It appears that Cryptic is trying to cover their tracks by removing any proof about what they promised, because they deliberately deceived their players.
Now the borg bridge officer we received doesn't come with ANY special traits, and would be no different than any officer we'd get in the game, except now it's less useful, because it has NO TRAITS at all.

That's a good idea, maybe I'll put in a few more tickets, see if they get answered

This has already been addressed in this thread here: http://forums.startrekonline.com/showthread.php?t=98535

    Namely:
    • Borg Bridge Officers Missing Traits
We are investigating this issue now.

Please read the stickies before complaining and jumping to TRIBBLE conclusions like Cryptic "lied" to you.

I still haven't gotten my red matter capacitor or any response to my 3 day old ticket.

TOS unis? Still no skirts, and nothing at all for my BOFFs. Only pre-order item I have that is working as advertised is the TOS Constitution.

Good luck of anyone finding anything like that with the search function broken

Dont be surprised if those traits were never tested and broken and if they show up in the store at a later date.

Remember the extra playable races that were removed because of " Graphical problems " that later turned up in the store?

Exact reason why I refuse to pre order games before trying them out and I refuse to fall into the " Buy from me I give you special stuff " Scam just to get your money. Special Editions are never worth the money.

It just worked fine for me. I searched "Borg Bridge Officer" and the sticky thread was the second in the list of results. So.. how's it broken? I've used it a few times these past days, both the simple dropdown as well as the advanced search tool.

My Borg BO doesn't have any traits as yet and Cryptic has already posted that they are looking into the issue.
Since the issue is across all of the Borg BO's and not just yours, I see no reason for them to address anyone specifically with a personal response.

On the other hand, your demanding and threatening post should garner you some specific, personal moderator attention, IMHO, as an example of how not to make or word a post on an issue. :)

I swear some people have never been on a internet forums or know how to use Search. I'm sure they are being swamped by tickets and have some underpaid people working them that have never played STO let alone watched an episode of Star Trek. It's like being dependent on 911 saving your life.

I don't think I have ever seen a bigger drama queen player community than STO. I see melodramatic posts like this everyday here. The format is essentially the same. Some minor detail is broke or missing. Cryptic did it intentionally, and is actively seeking the death of kittens everywhere while speeding the human race to the apocalypse of Dec 2012.

I disagree. I preordered the standard edition, and am quite happy with what I got for it. A game, on launch day, without having to go to a store. Further I got a ship I couldnt get otherwise that is nicer than the other one I'd have at this class.

As for your complaints about the game, sure there are plenty of things I dont like. Personally, I think the travel between systems was done poorly. Instead, once you warp to another system, it takes you inside the ship, where you can do crafting, research, etc. I am very disappointed that I cant see inside my own darn ship (unless I just dont know what Im doing).

Mission depth is almost always a problem with games like this in the beginning. While I agree it lacks the strong overarching story that most good MMOs have, the groundwork is all there to have it. They need more than combat, even in a war based time period. The resource gathering is not the worst Ive seen, but not the best either. Doing it from inside the ship using ship controls in various parts of the ship (ie gathering samples of antimater from astrometrics while doing an experiment) would be a much stronger way of doing things.

im just wondering if those of us who have activated our borg BOs are screwed or will they change active borg BOs (when they fix them)?

Also is it worth giving them new skills (coz i dont like what she has)? or will that bork things later down the line when it gets fixed?

I have unanswered tickets that are 6 days old. Hell, I have a ticket I submitted when I got stuck in the environment that is 2 days old with no response.

Interestingly enough, when you submit a /killme (stuck) petition to have a GM come check on you, it states that someone will be with you 'soon'. Apparently 'soon' is a concept best viewed through a reality distortion field.

I am guessing that Cryptic's fix will take care of existing Borg BOs. It's probably a matter of assigning the trait to the race in the DB.
